As an offshoot from this thread i would be interested in thoughts as to where we are now regarding quality and balance. What our best team and bench is now. This window and the injuries have left me completely lost with what i think is reasonably achievable in the coming months. I think this era with acun owning the club, could go down as our best times as long as we can match their ambition with support, which will in turn bring in more sponsorship and finance to back it all up. Initially we will have mixed results as players and systems bed in, so now is the time for us to justify acuns expenditure and fill the ground. As someone once said. Weve never had it so good.

The 18,500 sold today is a good sign of this but a downturn in results and some bad weather will show exactly where we are.

I've had sixteen ACL's, four Ilizarov frames fitted, all limbs amputated by City's doctors, don't much care about FFP and any impact it may have on us, am happy with our summer transfer business, and am of the opinion Vern isn't much liked by Red Top Reader. Think that's it all covered. 
Vale is such a good signing, it was worth David Ornstein writing his first ever Hull City story.

We have over 12,000 members now, up from 8,000 before the take over. I can only see more people joining the membership scheme when the team are settled. It is still very early in the season, not forgetting we started early, kids are still off school and people are still away on holiday, so to get the gates we are attracting is an encouraging sign. Of course the stranglehold on the economy and everyone's purse strings is going to effect us in the coming months but we have a solid base to work from with the increase in the members. A good result tomorrow in front of a good crowd will do us no harm at all. UTT.

The influence of the economy isn’t to be understated imo. It’s one of the biggest, if not the biggest, reasons why people might not commit to a membership or even buy tickets. The cost of living increase, especially energy bills, is too high and many people just can’t justify an extra £30 a month direct debit on top of that.

Acun has done everything right regarding tickets imo. There’s not much more he can do bar making tickets free for anyone, including adults, but the club needs to make money too and free tickets would be chaotic on a first come, first serve basis. I think membership and tickets are fairly priced for the most part. The cost of living is just too high for lots of people.
Are these problems unique to Hull? Other clubs are still selling plenty and with higher prices than ours in the Championship and League one not just the PL.
The difference now is we’ve got a Membership baseline of 12k+. 50% higher than last season.
Even if the economic downturn means we lose 20% of Members, we’ll still have 2500+ more than last season.
As a club we’re in a far better place.

Hull always ranks high for poverty in the UK. Besides, I’ve just looked at the average home attendances so far this season and we’re 12th out of 24. Not too bad plus a lot of the clubs higher than us are far bigger clubs with more supporters.
Little villagers Burnley a far bigger club than us? Watford, Huddersfield are smaller places. Hardly salubrious places. Norwich had sold all their 22,000 by 27th July. Cheapest behind the goal £45 per month or £536. Wednesday, who a lot sneer at are averaging 27,000 in League One, season ticket behind goal £435 on the day prices £48down to £40 depending on category Derby and Ipswich are averaging 26,000 in League1.

Burnley are a bigger club than us, yes. They’ve spent 59 seasons in the top flight compared to our 5. Boro and Wednesday are also bigger clubs than us. The ambivalence of rugby fans in Hull plays its part too but it doesn’t contradict anything I’ve said about the cost of living.
I don't think the cost of living will impact us much if we go up...
The East Riding doesn’t rank highly in the poverty rankings and that’s where most of our fans come from.
Our support has traditionally been poor compared to similar sized cities, largely because of our lack of success, hopefully that’s about to change.
So why does it affect us more than Brighton or Norwich, smaller cities? Nottingham is larger but still gets good crowds. Burnley aren’t a bigger club than us according to those on here who call them a village with a population one third the size of Hull. Neither is Boro, from a town which is smaller and which always features high in the deprivation tables.The fact is we don’t have as many who make the football club a priority before other forms of enjoyment as in some other places.

Yes but now we have the astronomical levels of interest in women’s football to contend with.
A city of Hull’s size should, if they are going to have a rugby club, only have one.

Bigger city does not equal bigger club. Burnley, Norwich and Boro are bigger clubs in terms of history and therefore have a much larger pull. That doesn’t change that personal finances will be a stumbling block right now for some who want to go but can’t afford it.

the up turn is good but as Ric, I think said, how many are young kids paying next to knack all?
We just don’t get that support consistently
