Strange that we wouldn't sign Halil without an option to buy but happy to do so for Vale and Simons
I’m not convinced it was the option to buy thing. I suspect it’s game time. He goes in and is there best forward. He wouldn’t be here.
Plus, Vale especially, is far too good for Chelsea to risk with a low option to buy.
Maybe. But I’d rather have the path to the first team open to our own young players. We have plenty of midfielders of our own now.
True but Vale is a wide forward I think and we are lacking in those areas. Simons covers a lot of positions too. Our young lads get decent loan moves as seen by Snelgrove and Jevon today and Jarvis a week ago where they’ll play every game.
Covil was the best we could offer from our own academy, he showed he wasn't ready yet.

I don't understand why we are still arguing over the number of midfielders and wingers. Doesn't matter who we'll have available in 2-3 months, we need players who can play TODAY.
As for the Baz critiquing here,
Yes, he hasn’t broken news around transfers very often this summer but he absolutely did last summer when he had no official connection to the club.
He has a close connection with the owner personally. Why would he **** it up? It’s being broken by journalists who’s job doesn’t rely on having access to City.

It's why we insisted on the option to buy.
Is it o my us who turn positives into negatives when signing players we need because of a decimated squad . I think Shota believes that our defence will be ok if we get a decent midfield and forward line to occupy the opposition , at the moment they occupy us !!
I don’t think our defenders individually are the issue. It’s what’s been in front of them losing the ball in **** areas etc when they are in transition.
The option was certainly part of it. There's a big difference between the finances involved in signing Halil, just for him to go back with added value benefitting Brentford, and signing a couple of academy lads to do a job as cover.
Which should improve when we're not relying on whatever we can put out on the pitch cos 10 players are injured.
100%, no continuity in there at the minute and we are having to play Cannon. Shame as if Doc was fit I think he’d have made a real statement
