I’d like to see us get rid of Elder and get someone in to really challenge Brandon.

Broken record time for me I'm afraid but, Elder is already that player. He kept Fleming out of the team for 2 and a half years before an injury finally gave Brandon a chance. How much more do we want Fleming to be challenged than that?

This is just my guess but, with players knowing that we're now splashing the cash on signings, they'll all want their piece of the pie, while we'll be conscious of not being held to ransom by every existing player that needs a new deal. So of course we're going to hold out and try not to set any precedent of overpaying for existing players. We've lost Honeyman though so it is tricky. It'll be interesting to see whether we can convince Greaves, Fleming and others to extend on favourable terms for us or if we'll have to give in and pay big money.

I don’t blame them. KLP and Greaves are on **** all and should be given at least a 5 figure salary. They are our most valuable assets. KLP will probably leave so he might reject a new contract regardless of money but Greaves should definitely be offered £10-15k a week. He’s future captain-material. If the club can’t offer him that but splash on a Turkish midfielder whose career is something of a downward trajectory atm, then something’s wrong.

No shame in being done by Ebosele imo.

True. You won’t see us play many as good as him on his day. It probably says more about how good he was that Ebosele was the only one from memory where he really struggled to my mind.

I’d go further than future captain material. I’d say he’s the obvious captain now. Unless one of the new guys coming in is going to get it.

I don't disagree, I'm sure we all think he's worthy of a bigger contract. It's just a question of how much bigger. Knowing that the club is spending big all of a sudden and that he is valuable puts Greaves, as well as others, in a strong negotiating position and we will surely be sensitive to that.

The problem with Muriqi is at 28 it will be nearly impossible to recoup our money on him. Even if he does well for a couple season will we get £12m for a 30 year old?

I'd still take him though, in a good team I feel he could put up Mitrovic numbers and that's worth more than £12m to us.
If that £12m gets us in the Premier League, it’s Job Done and Acun won’t care about the money he spent

Dreaming of Man City or Liverpool being in for him,

Maybe I've misread his character but he seems pretty set on staying with City at least for the medium term. Maybe if one of those clubs did come in for him his head would be turned, but he's playing so well here and progressing so well over the last 2-3 years I'd hope he's be happy to stay.

Just concerning how long these contract talks are dragging on. Gives me the sense the club is trying to lowball current players and bank on their loyalty giving the club cheap deals which I don't like the idea of. If they were offering Greaves a material deal I can't imagine he'd take long signing on.

Wasn’t acun quoted as saying about building the team around local talent only a few months ago??
Now all the experts on here are ****ing over every link to a random player from turkey and dismissing all the good players we already have here as expendable or not great anway.
Appears to me so far klp going and possibly greaves is going to pay for these new players.
What sort of message is that going to send to Jarvis etc

Well if we get promoted, he’s recouped his money. We have to accept we won’t make back money on every single player, we can’t think like that or we’d only ever sign under 23s and have no experienced players.

Absolutely. For all the talk about Acun forking out for new players, it feels like it's being funded by gutting the team we had. Treating the club as a business was scorned when it was the Allams but seemingly praised when it's our new marketing guru.

I don't think there's any real suggestion we're actually going to sell Greaves. If it did happen then yes it'd be extremely disappointing.

As for Jarvis and friends, I suppose the message is that if he's successful he'll get a big move. Not sure I see the issue there.

Not sure that's a correct assumption, we've had approx £1.2m in from transfers and have way more then that on the table for outlays, plus much higher wages and longer contracts being given to the incoming players. KLP may head out but even if he doesn't the money is still going to be spent. It's not reliant on money coming in.

Bit extreme to compare Acun's transfer strategy to that of the Allams.

Has he proven us wrong so far? Who has he actually 'forked out' for given all the discussion about his backers and funds? Ally on loan in January was a decent bit of business and if/when that's confirmed as a permanent that will be nice to see, but with KLP going and Honeyman already gone hard to stomach that him and Tufan are anything other than reinvesting funds from players sold. Happy for us to operate in a sustainable model but may need to cut the crap about our glorious leader leading us to the PL if it's just simply reinvesting player sales.

Guess I'll believe it when I see it. For all the talk of an exciting January we barely had any outlay, and so far this summer we've spent something like 4m on incomings (Ally and Tufan) which is nothing compared to what KLP is going for. Happy to change my tune when the window closes but getting a bit tiresome. This talk about being happy to listen to offers for Greaves isn't helping.
