These midfielders all seem great and they solve a major issue of ours.

But the success of next season will depend heavily on us bringing in forwards. With Smith likely to go too, we don't have an out and out centre forward at the club. Yes Allahyar can play there and did well last year but we need substantially more. You need somebody who's going to get close to 15 a season and it's the hardest position to buy and most expensive. We need a couple of target men types ideally.

I'd love JCH at P'boro. He'd be an outstanding one and he's a great player when he's not rolling around on the floor

I wouldn’t mind us looking at Cameron Archer even if it’s just on loan. Mcgoldrick wouldn’t be a bad shout on a 1 year either to provide us that outlet type of striker

Yeah, they'd both be alright. This notion that we only want 7 worries me though, with the 3 midfielders + Allahyar and Baxter, that's 5. And we haven't touched the forward line yet, and we definitely need a CB and RB too.

I imagine we’ll be looking back into Davies now the takeover has gone to ****. But still think he stays there. I think it’s 7 before the season starts and then you can judge what you need more over the first 5 games where prices fall as teams are more desperate to shift their players.

From the players we're close to signing or have been linked with Davies is a big step down. Last season when we were broke it made sense, I just don't see how it does this season. It's a stop gap, and nothing more. I was critical of Bernard but I'd rather have him back permanently.

I'm still extremely sceptical of Davies' fitness too, yes he played 46 games last year, but was out long term the year before. Actually 2 out of the last 4 years he's really struggled for fitness.

I'm just certain we can get better and younger elsewhere

I thought the suggestion was 7 or 8 new players, but with the caveat that if players leave (beyond those not retained) they might be replaced too.

So, if Wilkes and Tyler leave, then it potentially could be two more players coming in.

That changes things massively.

Another caveat though, if/when KLP goes, surely we aren't just going to replace him with one player.

I still think we'll be looking at 12+ new players when the window shuts.

SPECIAL | Hull City, owned by Acun Ilıcalı, will start attempts to recruit Jackson Muleka, who finished the season in Kasımpaşa.

12 in 14 with 4 assists too. Only 22

Shirts at our level really don't make to much money, well not the kind of money needed to sign players. Let's say the club makes £40 profit from the shirts ( which i doubt it does ) they'd have to sell 10k shirts to make £400k

OLM will probably have a better idea on the kind of profit the club may be making.

WSP to Umbro will be about £7.00 - £8.00 at the moment I would have thought depending on where they are manufacturing and if they pay a landed price or move stuff themselves to the UK or Europe.
A typical deal is hard to measure as some are cash heavy with very little in replica for the clubs (mainly top clubs like Man Utd who just take the big sum and a smaller margin) but lower league clubs tend to not have the attraction for cash and therefore are more keen on low priced product to make money in their stores.

City will likely be somewhere in between depending on the deal Ehab signed off of course so I would imagine paying in the region of £15 quid a shirt from Umbro. I've just seen the inner workings of a top end Championship clubs new deal with an Italian brand and it was cash in installements with replica at £17 and bonuses for Premier League, FA Cup final appearances etc. The guy who worked on that deal had to drop the price 3 times as the club were pissing about over a quid at a time on shirts and other stupid things.

If City are putting a 60% mark up on retailing at £45 (minus VAT) that would mean it is probably about right for £15 to the club. At £22.50 gross profit per shirt that is only 100k selling 5000 shirts as you have quite rightly pointed out. You can see why some clubs see this side of things as a huge hassle for little reward (in football finance terms)

In Hull live this morning they said the Club have looked at Curtis but not pursuing him.

Ben Davies getting let go by Liverpool, would be a good right sided centre half option.

All our centre backs are young and very inexperienced, Curtis could play when needed but for me his guidance, coaching and help could be invaluable to the current guys.

You seem to be saying that despite him proving his fitness over the last year you simply reject that evidence. I think it's mental how obsessed football fans are with age. The fact he's 36 seems to automatically mean he can't be fit to some people, even though he's proved he is.

And it's not even that he played all 46 games, he played every minute.
