Why do us the fans need to know the ins and outs of what's going on? Why the need to know?
He plays for our Club and there's obviously a lot going on in his life right now, so I'm sure the people who need to know do and are helping him through it.
Just wait until the announcement he's fit to resume and accept it.

We all know he's out of contract in june and won't have much of a career left at any level if he doesn't start playing before then. I'm sure he's doing everything he can to avoid that scenario yet remains unavailable until at least Jan.

Why do we need to know the details of the condition itself?

He’s a footballer and it will draw discussion and speculation.

Curiosity is human nature and when whatever has happened to him becomes a secret guarded more tightly than the contents of mother Teresa’s underpants, that curiosity is going to become piqued.

Certainly doesn't help that people on this forum and other places, keep dropping hints that they know about it all, but can't tell. People naturally wonder what's going on (due to football being a very scrutinised sport) and when they ask what the situation is, someone comes in and drops some breadcrumb and then coyly suggests that they can't say anymore...why say anything then?

More damage is done stoking the fire with sly answers. The outrage from the ITKs, when people that are curious start probing a bit more is very hypocritical IMO.

Tbh it's not a new thing though, even before the dawn of the mobile era and networks, Asa Hartford failed a medical and it was plastered all over the papers at the time re his 'hole in the heart'. Alas now it's even easier to speculate and push for the reasons, I concur the lad deserves some privacy but when you're a paid public figure in the entertainment business, then scrutiny and curiosity comes with the territory

Without wanting to go in circles, I think people are just curious and this sort of situation isn't very common in football, we live in a world where someone, knows something, about everything... as is demonstrated on here often enough.

I personally agree that it's his business, but also think that Josh / the club haven't handled communicating the situation well. As was said a above, a simple statement that the many PR team members could write would head all this off.

Head it off...it would never be enough for some and again why should Josh do that if he doesn't want to? To put it frankly and bluntly. It has the square route of **** all to do with any of us or anyone else outside who he chooses to tell

really going in circles now, but the nature of his profession means it does have something to do with his fans, albeit, they should respect his privacy.

But yes, I agree people always want to know more and it's never enough anyway.

Are you saying that footballers don't have the right to a private life?

We know he had his option year triggered, we know he's out due to a long term illness and we know he's not in the squad until January and his contact ends in June.

As fans, what more are we entitled to know?

No I'm not saying that, you've literally quoted me saying people should respect his privacy...

I'm not saying that people are entitled to know anything, I'm saying that people are naturally going to question things and that sometimes in giving an answer, people stoke the fire more.

Think they just love the attention and knowing more than us 'regular' supporters. That's why you get the 'people like you' style comments which come off as very superfanish.

I'm grateful for the small handful on here that share what they know or at least what they feel they can.

Probably because "people like you" is a pretty poor putdown from someone just wanting to get some sort of word from the club about one of our players, who the more veiled comments we hear the more speculation and rumour-mongering goes on.

For the most part HT and ST and others are great insights into the workings of the club, but I think if HT reflected on his wording he'd choose a different way to express that post.

In this specific case, the issue I have is that we're being lectured by people telling us to respect Josh E's privacy, when they obviously disrespected his privacy as they know about his condition.

Did they ask Emmanuel directly about his condition and ask if they could drop little crumbs like "oh it's worse than X but not as bad as Y" don't think so... where was all this faux outrage and decrying of morals when they shared things about a players private life? It didn't come did it...? it just prompted people to keep the conversation going. Did they tell their all-knowing mates that obviously told them what his condition was, to keep his private life private? apparently not as they don't deny they themselves know all about it and have said "people like us" don't deserve to know, why do they then??? why do they post about it then???

The reality is, I refuse to be lectured by someone telling me it's not my business when I never made it my business, and who obviously made it their own business in conversation with someone who has disrespected Josh E's privacy.

The most anyone has said in the last couple of pages of discussion on this matter amounts to "it's a bit weird to not hear anything isn't it?" and the response of people on here is to act like someone's asked for a complete rundown of all the hospital visits he's had, coupled with images of each scan and maybe the CCTV of it all to boot...

It's hypocritical and the virtue signalling of people wading in to tell us all to respect him, when nothing's been done to disrespect him is just odd.

The club have handled the situation well. There are rules and regulations as to what an employer can or cannot divulge/make public about an employee's health.
It is a private matter and the club, who are paying the wages, have kept it as such. Nothing to see here, please move on.
