Tan Kesler in The Athletic- “Anything below the top six, I would be disappointed.” “We believe that international talent can work with our local talent. The players we have signed have played at a very high level but they can also pass on their experience.”

“I feel the buzz in town. You only have to interact with the fans to see this.” “If we didn’t get there (play-offs) it would disappoint us but it wouldn’t discourage us. It would just make us more motivated to come back.”

Looks like the pressure's going to be on Shota pretty quickly.

That was the impression I got. I really want him to do well. Even if I don’t agree with the formation, I think he has shown ambition in the recruitment. It is exciting times to have brought in all of these international players!

How many did he recruit and how many did Tan/Acun recruit? I've got to be honest I'm not sure how much he has had to do with it but seems happy to go along with it since they're quality additions.

An interesting question. I’m sure the answer will be out in the open one day too.

Does anyone have any inside info on these possible additions?

I think in this day and age the coach has a say in a player, but the recruitment/director of football scouts players and recommend particular additions and hopefully, the coach does have the final word. In Shota's case, I'm not sure whether he just goes along with whatever Acun/Tan say or whether he does put his foot down when needed?

Makes me wonder if there wasn't something in the idea of having heavy legs having played 3 games in a week.

Believe pboro had only played half's in their friendlies before Saturday (and still swapped team over on 60). Our second string who hadn't started 3 games in a week did pretty well over L1 opposition the same day.

Still,. Performances didn't inspire confidence in either of last week's apparent first team displays.

I am convinced that was the case, and why I was advocating at the weekend we might have been better just playing the one game, so players could be rotated. Most played 90 minutes against Lesta so to play again 2.5 days later I think caught up with them. Steve Bruce always said players can play 3 games a week but don't expect the same level of performance in all of them.

He mentioned he has a lot of zoom calls with players. Maybe that’s why some said no when they heard him waffling

He seemingly stopped the Babel transfer last season from what was written about it

I’d guess the defensive option is the one likely to sign this week and this is hopefully the second option which may happen now we’ve moved on from Nwakaeme.
