Not a target I'd expect from a club which has to sell to buy.
That's my thoughts too but you could say the same about Seri.
I won't lie, if we got Nwakaeme and he stays fit, the chance of us getting play offs sky rockets.
Not a target I'd expect from a club which has to sell to buy.
To be honest promotion to the Prem is so lucrative from a financial point of view that maybe we're thinking if we somehow manage it this year or next year (more realistically) then the initial outlay will be worth is, paid for and no need to sell our stars.
If we fall short after that I can see a bit of an exodus of players like Greaves, ally etc that may look like us letting them move further in their careers but really we'll be happy to pocket the cash
I wouldn't say negative, no. More eye opening about where the money funding the club is coming from.
According to the ex-city player, a short term loan was apparently taken out from a Dubai based bank to buy the club at pretty high interest if left unpaid. The buying party tried to pay it back early, but before the deal was complete (which is the bit I don't understand/find difficult to believe) and were told no by the EFL. So in order to pay back the loan within the time frame deals had to be sought to finance the club, such as the Corendon airlines deal and the other sponsorships. And in order to fund our players, other players had to leave, KLP included.
It makes sense when you think about it, because a man whose wealth is mostly tied up in businesses and investments isn't going to have the ready cash available to buy a Championship club outright. The CA deal is multi year, so if there's a yearly fee paid or it was all paid up front, that's plenty of money to pay back the loan and the money from KLP has provided us with money to sign almost a new squad.
Unless I am misunderstanding what you are saying, it doesn't seem to add up. If I understand you correctly, Acun used CA money plus other sponsors' money to fund buying the club? I can't imagine sponsors shelling out money or guarantees to a club you haven't bought yet. Also, would EFL accept such a situation?
I can understand him having to take out a loan, but why didn't EFL accept that from a good bank?
So let me get this straight, we slated the Allams for not investing in the team and squad, for pocketing money from sales to repay their 'gift'. But now we have an owner who is doing his level best to invest in the team, to bring high level football back to the city, and yet there are still people who moan cos he is spending too much ? Ya couldn't make it up ! The guy may be excitable, and has a dream like we all have, but he aint no daft lad, he's been around football and football clubs a long time, he has associates and friends in high positions of certain football clubs, do you really think he is over stretching beyond what he and the club can afford without due diligence, c'mon ladies and gents, stop with the hysteria ! And enjoy it for what it is, Instead of looking for the negatives all the time. It seems some here aren't happy unless they're moaning !
So you're saying the plan wasn't always to pay back the loan when they took it out?
You either pay off a loan which you said was prevented or still have the money?
And if we're also just spending the KLP money, why the FFP clarification meeting 'to ensure the club remains compliant' or however Baz worded it. Reinvesting funds would be net zero for FFP.
Besides I still don't see how 16m transfer income pays for 11.5m transfer fees, a chunk of agents/signing fees and the increase in wage bill as well. Especially. If we're not getting all of the KLP fee upfront.
Why is Baz quoting a meeting to ensure compliance then?[/QUOTE
Before the sale we were under a transfer embargo. It was lifted when we paid back the EFL loan but it is good management by the EFL to keep a close eye on what we are doing given we were recently in “Special Measures”. I don’t have any information to say that is the reason for the ongoing contact but it makes sense for the EFL to not want to be left with egg on their face for us getting into difficulty again.
The legacy the Allam’s left on FFP means that the new owners can loosen the purse strings to turn the club around and so encourage better financing from fans and sponsors. Like all clubs we will still need to sell players to continue to move forward but hopefully we are buying/developing players whose resale value will allow us to continue to invest.
I don't know mate, I'm just passing on what I was told. I couldn't get my head around it either, which is why I posted it on here to see if others had heard/could make sense of it. I've had three DM's on here confirming it from things their end, but I'm not going to pretend it's 100% true because I can't say that with all honesty.
Transfer stuff I can do, financial stuff, yeah not so much information there. I only put it on because it had come from an ex player who seemed to know a lot about what's going on (a very much loved ex player) so I ran it up the flagpole.

Fair enough. It's deffo something to keep an eye on, but we do seem to be investing over and above the KLP fee, and if there's staged payments from Brentford also to factor in, there's got to be a lot more cash than just that available.
As far as I can tell, they took out a loan to pay for the club. Then, they tried to pay back the loan when they got the sponsors sorted (for which the money had not yet arrived) but because that money was already in guarantee to buy the club (or whatever the financial term is), it couldn't be taken off the table and they had to use the loan money to buy the club because the sponsorship cash hadn't arrived. CA and the others then paid and the loan was paid back.
That doesn't seem dodgy at all to me, but the way this person said it seemed to indicate there was something shady about it (they also gave a "warning" about the owners, which sounded more like personal feelings), which is why I posted it on here. I can't see anything wrong with that transaction or what went down, I was more just trying to get a sense of whether it was true or not.
By the sounds of the DM's, it is.
I'm sorry ST but virtually none of this makes any sense. You said AI took out a loan to buy the club but then obviously had the funds to pay it back early (which for reasons that make no sense the EFL wouldn't let him do until the deal to buy the club was done), so why if he then had the funds did he not just pay off the loan as soon as the deal went through?I wouldn't say negative, no. More eye opening about where the money funding the club is coming from.

You have to wonder what we were doing trying for Muriqi then.
There's also got to be question marks why we're going for Nwakaeme

There doesn't seem to be any worry about money at the club, a club with financial tightness wouldn't be targeting players like Seri who would obviously want a decent wedge. I can't say I'm worried about it at all.
All promotion pushes are a gamble unless you're owned by somebody like that of Wolves or Man City and you can afford to **** money down the pan.
Surely the amount to buy the club was a lot more than the sponsorship deal income?
