It would maybe help if we didn't play him out on a wing! But, irrespective, I can pretty much guarantee he wasn't, isn't and won't be the answer to anything for us.

Never said he was. I said he’s worth keeping around.

Me too, but I'm certainly no athlete!

It's always bizarre to make such strong statements like this especially off a few games he's played for us. He's only 21, and young players mature/develop quickly sometimes. The most obvious example was Fleming, who in the pre season game at the KCOM looked awful, he was coming back from covid but looked so far off the pace it was unbelievable. He's been outstanding for us since coming into the side though and made 3/4 team of the week appearances and a team of the month too. That's pretty impressive in 15 starts

    Ok, fair points.
I just don't see it, and think we'd be better off freeing up that place for someone else. I also think that's what will happen in practice.
But as always, more than happy if proved wrong.

We’ve given away let go had on loan ‘weak’ players overweight players older and younger who’ve shown nothing with us then up they pop a couple of years later to do us - I’d like a slightly chunky Billy Sharpe type with youth on their side , maybe Scott could be one that , please not a Paul Hunter type though !!!

This summer is going to be a pretty big rebuild. In the forward areas, assuming we play Shota's preferred 433 next year, we could be potentially left with just Allahyar and Longman. I have no problem with giving Scott a chance as it's potentially 1 less addition we need to bring in.

I'd have thought someone in L1 would pay a couple of hundred thou. Sheff u hung on to Slater for the sake of 50k so why not us with Eaves?

Probably would cost more to extend his contract that year. Loyalty bonus etc

If someone was willing to pay for Eaves, they'd have done it last summer and he'd have gone.

Slater was a young player they were due compensation for anyway who had a host of clubs after him.

But nobody will pay for Eaves, he's 30 and not scored a decent amount of goals in the 3 years he's been with us and one of those was in L1

I thought he was told he could leave but opted to stay as he didn't want to drop down. Not only that he was behind Magennis then. If we bring in 2 strikers then yeah he's probably surplus but we still need depth in that area. I've no strong feelings either way but feel we should get a fee if possible. I take Newcastle's point that any fee would need to be more than the value of his option year though to make it worthwhile.

There's no loyalty bonuses in our squad and if there was, they wouldn't be activated by an option being exercised by the club on a pre existing deal

Was on loan at linfield in Northern Ireland then had a bad injury halfway through the spell. Was scoring a few before.

I'm certain that if Ehab could've got a fee he would have, I thought the only interest in Eaves was on loan and we would still have to subsidise part of his wages. I'm sure one of the ITKs on here said that anyway
