Anyone dare to have a crack at a best XI as things stand? Think RW is the glaring weakness now.

Pandur
Coyle - Jones - Hughes - Giles
Zambrano - Puerta
Mehlem
Omur - Bedia - Millar

Am I forgetting anyone obvious?

I feel like I say it every window but I do find it funny that we can make 15+ transfers each summer and still we have half/majority of our back four left over from our League One days. Coyle just won't be moved!

Id probably agree with that now, but come Friday there’s probably 4 changes to that team

Just wanted to say you do a cracking job at keeping all this stuff updated. I don’t have the time to read through 837 plus pages. Thankless task but I am thankful!

I know it's been said but I just can't fathom the point of Burns. He'll be gone in Jan at this rate. Like Matt Smith, two of the three loans we've got from man city in the last four years have been a waste.

Feels like he’ll be the loan to drop out of the matchday squad as well, I feel for the lad. Tbf any injury to Jones and I think he comes in, I just can’t see him getting a game in midfield once signings are complete

Rushworth
Puerta
Zambrano
Bedia
Burns

Why does he have to drop out of the matchday squad, especially if McLoughlin goes? Baz said the others are all permanents.

For some reason I have it in my head that we're expecting another loan. Acun did say he expects 3 more loans in his interview with Baz on Friday and so far we've only confirmed Puerta. Cooper, Meffert, Kamara, 2nd winger and ST all supposedly permanent like you say, so who knows.

Hefty loan fee if he doesn’t play so coming in as #1 when we have two decent keepers already.

This is just several layers of dumb.

I'll admit he's on upgrade on what we've got, but i'd rather develop the 2 young keepers we own rather than add value to a Brighton player. Now if there's an option to buy that changes things, but I seriously doubt that

Let's develop someone else's keeper for a season, let ours get pissed off and sit on the bench or in the stands, and in 12 months be back to square one when both want out and we sell all our keepers and repeat.

Wonder if we'll consider loaning 1 of the 2 out. Racioppi has gone from playing semi regularly and living in Bern to being 3rd choice and living in Hull. At least his wages stretch further now

Rushworth is probably better than either Pandur or Racioppi but only marginally and him signing is at the detriment to the two keepers we already have. We signed Pandur in January because he was a highly-rated keeper in Eredivisie despite playing for one of the weaker teams. The owner kicked up a fuss because the previous manager didn’t play him. He had an iffy pre-season but he looks a lot better and more assured now. His biggest strengths are his shot-stopping and commanding his box. His distribution isn’t bad either, in my opinion, and he’s improving every game. Racioppi I’ve seen a bit in the Swiss league and Champions League. He’s also a decent shot-stopper with decent distribution. He’s partial to a brain fart and is a bit rash coming off his line but he’s solid.

Pandur and Racioppi competing for the starting spot is healthy competition and ideal. A third keeper coming in on loan as first-choice ruins that dynamic completely. We’re already out of the League Cup so we just let two first-team keepers we’ve signed in the last eight months for significant fees rot on the bench or in the stands? This is why I think our transfer policy is a bit like a little kid in a sweet shop. Just because we can do a deal for a player doesn’t mean we should. There are other factors to consider.

If it is Rushworth, then surely Racioppi was from the development budget?

But if not, then I'm inclined to agree.

Hardly any clubs have three keepers on the books who are all competing for the starting spot because they all think they’re good enough to start. Usually, there’s a clear first-choice, a keeper who knows he’ll be limited to cup games or if the first-choice is injured and a third keeper on the periphery who knows he won’t play much at all but is content with that for the time being.

The situation with Ederson, Ortega and Carson at Man City is a good example as they all know where they stand with regard to how much they play, for the most part.
