Not 100% sure it's Darlow, but it's a loan keeper who the owner is deliberately teasing the identity of via his PR mouthpiece in Barry Cooper. Whether it's a 3rd choice older player or someone who could challenge for No1 is still speculation.

However, many of the arguments made against signing a 3rd keeper would apply regardless of the specific identity of the player.

And if you look at what's being said about loans -its probably quite feasible someone who isn't going to be a regular squad member when everyone's fit, simply Because it's looking like 6 total loans.

But you can't simultaneously make the argument that the player is both coming in as an expensive, disruptive influence that will stunt Pandur and Racioppi whilst at the same time acknowledging Darlow has been content to play second fiddle for a lot of his career.

The 2 arguments can't exist by the same logic.

Darlow has consistently been at bigger clubs. If it is Darlow, he'd come back here with the expectation to play.

So, after the long debate about goalies we still don't know what's happening which pleases me. In the past lots have been debated about different topics and when it's finally happened everyone was wrong. So there'll be no Darlow, no goalie mentor or anything else that's been talked about for the last thirty or forty pages.

Yeah, probably.

A gut instinct tells me it’s someone higher profile than Darlow.
Darlow sits on the bench of another Championship team. Why would that be a surprise. Plus Walter has no experience of him.

It's a bit of an anomaly that he is though. He'd be playing at most other 2nd tier clubs.

Well at least unlike a few weeks ago we won't wait long to find out.
Thank ****.

It is actually a good week to look forward to incoming wise as we will know all of them by Friday which will be great so not worried about hearing anything till Friday if they keep us waiting.

Other than the later in the week they come in the less chance of featuring against Leeds, I agree. There's now very little need to rush.

That is the only point but I think if they come in TW will probably be thinking after the break anyway so they can get used to the other players and what he wants from them.

If they've trained a few days they may be in the squad. But yeah, it's going to be after the break I think we'll see more his vision and less transition.

But it'll still take time.

I don't think I've seen it mentioned yet. But 'Walterball' involved a goalkeeper who is comfortable with the ball at his feet who can play tight passes under pressure. Attributes that both Pandur and Racioppi have. But I don't recall that being Darlow's style?

He was seen as far more competent at that than Ingram at the time. But that's the comparison at the time.

Walters going to want someone to distribute Ideally. Agreed.

As far as I've seen it's only been hinted by McKechnie on here. He said he's been told that by someone. I think it's a very easy link to make so there's a good chance someone has got it wrong.

Putting that to one side, I just don't think it makes much sense for it to be Darlow. The combination of his wages, his well-stated desire to play regularly when he left Newcastle, the comments about it being a big surprise and a highly rated goalkeeper (in fact didn't Baz even say from the Premier League at one point?), Walter's well-known demands of his goalkeepers and comments I can remember Rosenior making about Darlow regarding his experience (lack of) with playing out from the back when he was here. I just don't think it adds up. If I'm wrong and it is him then you'll find me in the "I don't get that one personally" camp.

It could be bollocks. But the direction of travel will be more experience/pedigree through the spine this week.

Frankly there has to be.

And some wingers.

Do Pandur and Racioppi have it though?

They're willing to try I suppose but I'm not seeing an inherent natural ability. Not yet anyway.

Allsop had it but also forgot he still had to save stuff, so I guess it's a balance.
