I suspect that's exactly why he wasn't recalled earlier.
He took a wrong turn and is now signing for Leeds United.
That was probably the right thing for his development and for maximising his value.
If we really wanted him in our squad we'd have recalled him long ago. This seems like something we're doing almost reluctantly because of the lack of cover. Wouldn't be surprised to see him go out again by the end of the window if we can get a few attacking players sorted before then.

I do think that's a bit crap. You should be able to play for three teams in a season not two. If a player has a successful loan and a club wants to have a look at them in January before deciding whether to keep them in the squad or send them out again they should be able to. Or if they play the first game of the season then go out on loan and it's a shocker they're blocked from a second loan.
