£8M profit on a player bought less than 12 months ago is a hefty profit in most peoples books.
Jaden didnt set the Championship on fire, hence why most think he will only make appearances off-the bench next season.
Maybe it was always the plan including Philogenes that he would only stay one season unless we were promoted, Remember we were told the deal was done a couple of weeks before it happened but it took wrangling over the exact clauses to get it done just hours before the deadline.
Ipswich triggered the deal, thats all they were prepared to offer. No other suitors came forward hence Villa triggering the clause they always intended to.
There was a time when we would be happy to have made £800k on a player. It goes to show how entitled some have become.

It is amazing business for a player that is far from ready for Premier League football. £8M for us to spunk another punt that will only make us £8m once we sell him. I hate these owners.

I enjoyed Tan's interview but I thought he was a little clumsy actually. There were certain things Tim didn't want to say in his interview about individual players and Tan basically grassed on him haha.
Probably Tim doesn't see it as his place to comment on individuals (in the context of the questions being asked). He's the coach not the owner or CEO. Rightly imo he leaves those questions to Tan.

Acun said he wouldn't sell for less than 30m euros. That was in the context of the club choosing to cash in on him, meaning we wanted to keep him. The situation changes once the player shows that he wants to go. Then it's a case of taking the best deal on offer (from a club the player will accept a move to); 'best' also includes consideration of timing. That's what happened. It really shouldn't be difficult to understand.

Re. Tan. Great to hear his reassuring, calming input. I'm surprised we haven't heard more from him by now. A say weekly interview would only take up say half an hour of his time. I find it hard to believe some on here choose to twist and doubt what he's saying - even more so when the Allam era is still relatively fresh in our minds. As Burnsey would say, "give your head a wobble".

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone twisting what Tan is saying? Just pointing out that messaging coming out of the club isn’t always consistent nor what eventually happens.

And that’s fine, it’s a business and Tan and Acun’s interviews are also sales pitches and pieces of negotiation with other clubs. But that does mean we shouldn’t take it all at face value.

Almost as if football fees have massively inflated or something. Weird.

Aren't they always. Even more so now he's found out
I hate this culture of 'in the know' and people like Baz are the absolute worst.

There was a time when a signing hit you like a right hook when you picked up the paper and the feeling you got seeing the news was amazing. I remember doing my paper round and reading the City pages all the way round excited that we had signed a young keeper from Man Utd I had never heard of.

Now we are drip fed little snippets of info and when any signing is announced it is all a bit meh. We will never reverse it but I really do miss the times when a club could do its business and everyone got to find out at the same time. Created a bit of a buzz.

Baz’s unique position as pseudo-spokesperson doesn’t help. It’s evident Acun/Tan filter certain info through him and trying to weed through what’s good and what’s guff is often annoying.

Ipswich in for Rak-Sakyi according to some ITK people on their end.

Could Ipswich politely **** off a little please?

Blackburn forward Sammie Szmodics is also available for £6m as they are slashing their budgets. We should be all over that.
£6m for someone who’s had 1 good season at this level… no thanks they’re cashing in as they don’t expect him to do it again

His arrogance winds me up, loves to hang it over the fans, buckers was a proper journo.

It must be a whole generation ago now since kids would get up to do a paper round before school, then walk to school!

Interesting to hear Tan’s comments about Walter “starting to understand Seri” sounds like he’s not as sold on him for the system he deploys which I think is very fair. He is an incredible talent but very much a luxury player, I think part of Rosie’s system problem was it insisted everything went through him

Szmodics is a fantastic player. I would love to see him in a City shirt.

Currently...

We've sold all our best players.

Management are doing nowt constructive, just bigging up the players who have returned from loans that they were sent on because they weren't good enough for us.

And desperately bigging up a crop of academy boys who've never been anywhere near the first team.

Once the hapless Germans get up to speed it'll all be brilliant though.

Are you insinuating that Tan's lying? He's made things pretty clear I think. If he was lying it'd be very easy for these comments to bite him on the arse.

I don't really know what you're on about. Lying would be a bit strong. I think he just gave the obviously right answers that you have to give when asked these questions, as any executive, owner or manager in that position would.
