The worry is he was our back up to Greaves so not only are we now looking to replace Greaves but we're looking to replace his back up. So there's absolutely zero continuity in that position.

Part of what I like about the Moore signing on a 3 year deal is it gives us continuity (unless he's crap and we loan him out for the last two years of his deal a la Oscar). What we should be doing with our strikers, since we have a blank slate, is signing Moore, perhaps keeping or selling Oscar, and getting a young understudy. My analogy the other day about my kitchen cupboard. You have your food in the fridge that you're working your way through, and then you have another bottle of sauce or syrup or whatever in the cupboard just in case you run out of whats in the fridge before you make it to the shops again. We have Moore and another first choice striker and should have a young backup in the building on a permanent deal. That way if/when Moore runs out of legs or moves on, we have a ready made replacement and continuity in the squad. It's not rocket science.
I'm sure the club will ketchup with your thinking one day ...

So, the Striker and Right back who were slated (where has that word come from these days?!) to sign on Wednesday haven't been signed, yet, but we are closing in on the signing of a 32 y.o. striker on a 3 year deal.
Yet another player is rumoured to be leaving; not a massive loss if it happens but a dependable back up none the less and meaning yet another one to replace.
First pre-season friendly tomorrow (correction from today), and summer training camp near half way over.
Not panicking yet, but it's starting to test my resilience!
Edit: fact checked. He's only 31. Phew.
Edit to the edit: 32 by the time the season starts. Damn.

Walter on Oscar and Glatzel similarities. Don’t show Kalman

"And at the end, he's there to score and that's what he prefers. He said to me, 'Oh, that's my style, that's my style.' I showed him a lot of clips from my former clubs (Robert Glatzel) and he liked it and he said it's my style and I said, I know it's your style, that's the reason why you have to come back."

Think that puts to bed the theory we are bringing Oscar back to sell him which is great news.

I’m not sure where this idea that Walter likes strikers that press loads and link play in midfield has come from.

I would say it’s the opposite, he likes out and out finishers to be in the box to finish the move and stick it in the net.

I’d say Moore and Estupinan are a perfect fit, it’s almost like the club are listening to his requirements.

It comes from watching Hamburg, Glatzel has far more about his game, technique, more ability to link play and did so, I've not seen anyone suggest thats in midfield though. However, that doesn't mean it's what Tim wants or sees as necessary for the role.
