People offering and paying more and us not matching/going above doesn't mean we have "cut". We are just being more careful/sensible. In hindsight, should we have really pushed the boat out and matched 1 of the offers to maybe get a deal over the line, possibly and then what's to say that doesn't just start a price war in the wrong direction and there's only one winner in that case.....sometimes you just have to stick to a budget/ceiling. Time will tell us if it was the right decision or not.

I honestly think you're trying really hard to make/push a narrative that just isn't there.

Ha, pushing a narrative. I have absolutely no problem with us sticking to a budget. Only reason that was even talked about was that Chazz seemed to be suggesting that our salary budget had been reduced this summer, I'm not convinced. If anything I think the targets we've been going for suggest we're happy to pay competitive wages. We wouldn't have got that far down the line with players six or seven times if we weren't paying enough.

This strange back and forth came about when I simply expressed how unusual it was to have such a long list of players we've publicly missed out on in one position. I didn't think there was anything controversial about that, but it seems you and a couple of others spotted the obvious relationship between that struggle and the change of manager - even though I didn't mention it - and you're now going on the offensive to make sure that gets nipped in the bud before anyone else dares to mention it.

Oh god the condescending prick has a new level of smugness

Can we still loan players or just free agents? Some Fener accounts speaking about Under, which sound weird to me since he is tied to club as of deadline so not in free agent status to transfer. It didn't seem genuine.

Are you capable of having a conversation without playing the man?

Buckingham reported in the Athletic that we paid a very modest sum for carvalho and that he came here for playing time and to work with Rosenior. Doesn't really fit the narrative.

I wonder if we'll try to get Racioppi a loan in Turkey?
Well Adana Demirspor is playing with 15 years old keeper due to financial problems.

Funny enough, they had Balotelli, Belhanda, Stambouli, Badou N'diaye (Stoke paid 20M something for him), Montella and Kluivert as coaches. Now they are bankrupt.

I am really chuffed with the window, reinvested the money and seemingly got some good players, a full turn around takes time of which the modern world has absolutely none. The knee jerking (mostly on X) is embarrassing, saw people calling for Acun out because of some involvement with another club, we still signed 15 players and some for big money, few years ago we had Magennis and a transfer embargo. Club is going in the right direction and we haven’t played a game with half our signings yet, we will see where we are end of October/Start of November.

I think some are probably just annoyed because all summer the narrative was 'see where we are at the end of the window' and where we are is with two basically unknown/unproven strikers, largely the same back 4 we've always had, and a very young/inexperienced CM group. Now the narrative is 'see where we are in two months'. Now I definitely agree it's probably a month early to get too critical of how we're looking, but I think people expressing disappointment with how the squad's been put together aren't entirely out of line.

I understand for some any criticism is seen somehow as an endorsement of Rosenior but really the only people at this point who bring up Rosenior with any sort of regularity are those who seem to want people to move on from him.

Thats the beauty of this league
Realistically you could say we could finish playoffs or 16th
And same for 3/4 of the teams
Love it

I couldn't agree more, personally the only reason I would like to see us promoted is for the club to benefit in the long term from the extra money generated, which if spent wisely, can build a better infer structure.

Grow up
How did Birmingham get stansfield?
Yes that’s right

I'm not really sure what that has to do with anything, nor what in my post required me to 'grow up'. PLT nor I are being personal, rude or aggressive with you so not sure why you're incapable of extending the same courtesy.

No one has denied that spending more can entice players to come to your club, the point PLT was making is that last season we were able to attract players and beat off competition from clubs with greater resources than us, meaning an 'intangible' element (perhaps more playing time, perhaps style of play, perhaps charismatic owner, perhaps 'project', etc.) worked in our favour that doesn't seem to be this season. Conway for instance opted for Boro which is just as far removed from his previous club as City are, with less guaranteed game time at Boro, and yet picked them over us. Is it unreasonable to wonder why? Is it as simple as 'they threw a ton of cash at him' or is it more nuanced?

I'm not sure I've even mentioned the change in manager in this, so not sure why you're bringing that up.....and going on the offensive, seriously? All I'm doing is coming back on your points with counter points that disprove / explain why you're barking up the wrong tree. Honestly if you think that's going on the offensive then you need to get out more..... I've said it once and I'll say it again, I thought that was the whole point of a forum?

No its they threw the money
Same as we did
But you and plt don’t want to believe that

Because I've just pointed out we didn't "throw the money" as much as Leeds and Southampton or even wolves in the pl but still got carvalho? We paid 500k all up for him. That's nothing.
