Sounds like a criticism that can be aimed at the vast majority of wingers to be fair. Wingers are the most frustrating players in any team -one week they can be brilliant and make all of the right decisions, next week they can't beat their full-back.

There’s nuances to it though. The criticism of Lokilo was that he never beat his man. He was extremely predictable and almost always turned inside to play the most simple pass that killed any momentum.

Millar can actually beat his man and often does. He’s a great dribbler and plays with far more confidence than someone like Lokilo. The criticism of Millar is that he’ll take one too many touches or makes the wrong decision. Giles was getting quite frustrated with him as Millar wasn’t making the right pass to him.

Do you monitor every single club and know the inner workings of all those clubs to know how many targets they lose out on?.

How do you know they didnt want to come... if you were in the open jobs market and were offered 10k a week and then just as you decide ok 'up for that' someone then offers 12/15k and a similar lifestyle which one would you take... if someone offered a bit more money and you didnt have to move and take kids out of school etc, would you say, I would have loved to have joined you but.... if someone offered you x amount of money to come and join you permanently but you thought that in a years time without the upheaval you might get a promotion but the people who offered the job didnt just want to borrow you, then maybe you'd stay put.

In short you know nothing of why we missed out on players, if you read other boards, Coventry, Leeds, and even Sunderland didnt get in the players they really wanted, but you seem to know all about them.

To name but 2 , Belloumi and Kamara had a choice of clubs... just saying !!!

Why dont you just come out and say 'If Liam was here A,B, C players would have joined in a heartbeat... thats what you really want to say...

Lokilo will never be a winger as long as he has a hole in his backside - he might play in a wide position, but he isn't a winger

Yeah. Even the chemistry between the left-winger and left-back takes time. Millar and Giles were getting quite frustrated with each other because they were getting into good positions going forward but weren’t on the same wavelength. One occasion against Leeds in the first half Millar was expecting Giles to overlap on the left so played the ball there but Giles had made an underlapping run and was nowhere near it so it just went out for a goal kick.

I noticed we made far fewer crosses against Leeds than the other games too. Bedia seemed a lot more involved in build-up than Estupiñán even if he looked a bit clumsy doing it.

I seem to remember an earlier game when they did work well together. Don't ask me which one. But every forward move came down their side with nothing on the right or middle.

And that's also what I like about Jarvis.
Yes, there's room for development / improvement in other aspects of his game, but he does have that confidence and ability to take his man on and beat them. That to my mind is important for a winger! Delivery, end product, decision making, and graft, are things that can get better over time, but if you don't have the confidence, willingness & ability to take a man on and beat them then it's a bit of a waste of time, which is to a large reason why we've struggled for too long with round pegs in square holes.
And now hopefully we finally have 4 wingers who can do this. London buses and all that.

Jarvis was crap yesterday but has been good in other games AND he’s being played on his wrong side.

The trouble with the system at the moment is there are gaps all over the pitch which the opposition can easily exploit, hopefully with the break coming up we can work on these problems.

Totally agree, I personally think in a few games time they will be a formidable pair in this league

For me, the frustrating thing I've seen from Millar so far is that the 'cut inside and shoot' which he favours has gone well off target several times already.

I don't claim to know any of the specific reasons players have turned us down, though some have been reported and yes it's the reasons you've alluded to. I just said it was incredible to have so many players publicly known to have turned us down in that one position. I don't think that's even a remotely controversial thing to say and I've no idea why it would offend you and Howden so much.

The change of manager is the most obvious factor to point to yes, but it's done. I think there are things players would like about Walter, the play-style notably, but I think outside of Hull and Germany he's a complete unknown which probably means he has a disadvantage from the start when competing against teams like Middlesbrough and Coventry for a player. I do think that's a concern and a shame when we finished above them both last season. There was no reason we should've fallen behind them again.

I just said it was incredible to have so many players publicly known to have turned us down in that one position. I don't think that's even a remotely controversial thing to say and I've no idea why it would offend you and Howden so much.

The strangest part of the exchange is Howden saying "Surely people should be aware we're not as attractive as we think we are" then when you say "It sucks we're not as attractive as we could be" him saying "How do you know that??"

I don't think there's anything wrong in saying that it was harder to attract proven Championship players with a foreign coach with no pedigree over here. I don't think Acun helps either, he's clearly very passionate but that Allsop Q&A was just unnecessary and he's looked like a bit of a crack-pot owner at times. The geographical issues are always there and we don't have parachute money either.

It's pretty obvious that it would've been easier to attract under LR as the pitch is simple; 'come and be the next Philogene/Greaves/Delap' where you play for us for a year and then go to the PL on massive wages on a long term contract.
