I think I'm just European bias. Can't help it. A south American I'm just like "ooh. I don't know." My apologies it's just me

South Americans have won the world cup more than us and with a lot of young players in the teams.

I get what you're saying. That's obvious 2 though. The outliers to my bias. The rest of them, they're all just the same as each other in quality really.

This is a controversial point. Those players are young Europeans from big nations. It's very rare for a youngster to be incredible from South America. Especially a nation like Ecuador. Very very rare. He may well be one of the rare ones. But, riddle me this. Would you be the same if we were linked with a youngster from Cuba? Ecuador I just don't know. The nation on the world stage doesn't set it blazing.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man U, Man City, PSG, Bayern and nearly every other big club you can think of regularly scout South America because it's where nearly all of the world's best players come from.

Endrick was mentioned, but then players like Messi, Neymar, Caicedo, Aguero, Coutinho, Luis Suarez et al came from there.

Ecuador's league isn't brilliant, but as a footballing nation they're pretty good. In fact out of all the CONMEBOL nations, only Bolivia and Paraguay currently sit outside the top 50 nations and a lot of the youngsters from these countries go on to have careers in Europe and South America.

There is a huge difference in quality between Ecuador (ranked 27th) and Cuba (ranked 167th). In fact, we have a hotshot kid from Bermuda (ranked 181st) in Sincere Hall and we've been singing his praises all Summer.

The last 'kid' from Ecuador, who was also a defensive midfielder, was Moisés Caicedo and he's fitted in rather well.

I feel Premier League clubs can afford to take a punt on young South American talent more than us though, especially at the fees being reported. When Caicedo joined Brighton, he was restricted to cup games and sub appearances and was then loaned out to a club in Belgium. He was recalled early due to an injury crisis and that’s how he cemented his place in their first team.

If Zambrano joined Bournemouth in January, he probably would’ve followed a similar path. However, at City, he’d be thrown into the starting XI immediately like Philogene was.

Philogene turned out for us ok to.

There's certainly a risk, but as it turned out, Brighton made a mistake sending Caicedo out on loan, he was in their first team less than five months later (we made the same mistake with Maguire). Having seen what happened with him and having a £4m buy tuning into a £115m sale two years later, it's probably encouraged more clubs to try and replicate it. Though it seems he's not even here yet, so it's certainly far from a done deal.

We don’t really have the ‘give them time to gel’ excuse as much this time. Simply because we were ready for another playoff challenge with Rosenior in charge and a decent squad (with maybe one or two of the loanees possibly coming back).

Of course, Tim Walter will rightly get some leeway for a short time. But if we do not have a top 6 team by the end of the season, or at least one that challenges it, it has been a failing on the club to sack Rosenior. The pressure is on.

But I think we will thrive under it and get all that we need, ready for a great season. UTT.
Bollox Philo, greaves and tufan would still have gone after failing to get promoted, the loanees will have also have gone the rest that have gone are just benchwarmers at best. We will have had a massive rebuild regardless of Rosie still been here.

Will all come down to the mentality of the kid and making sure we do enough to get him settled. We basically had a spanish interpreter on staff for Abel back in the day so something like that would probably do well

I do think we need to seriously consider recalling Jarvis. Shelbourne have been knocked out of the Conference League and we need wingers. Even if we sign more wingers between now and deadline day, he’d still be a decent option off the bench. We need recognised wingers in time for next Saturday though.

My only guess is why we can't is because of their transfer window maybe not being active. I imagine there will be a clause

South Americans have won the world cup more than us......
Very true. Probably because the South Americans always play their best, skillful players, whereas European countries, especially England try to coach the flair out of the players and rely on those who can run for 90mins....How many caps did the likes of Hoddle, Hudson and Currie, Bowles, Worthington win for England? One reason why England have been no where in World Cup since about 1970. Reason: Rubbish coaches from the Jurassic period.

I watched him in both legs of the Conference League qualifier against Zürich. He did okay but nothing exceptional. That being said, I can’t help but feel he would still be a better option at left-wing than Giles. Jarvis is not the answer but he’d be an improvement as a stopgap until we sign more wingers and as a squad player after.

Oh I agree. We need some more direct wingers to make it work. Giles' strength is playing off a winger with overlaps/underlaps and having a decent cross. He doesn't have the direct pace or skill to take on a full back consistently something which I think Jarvis does

Also as a sidenote. Good to see you back!

Thanks. I just think we need to get a move on. If certain clubs and players are assessing all their options, as is their right, then we should just say ‘thanks but we can’t wait around for you to make a decision’. Need to start giving ultimatums and then move on to other targets.
