I don’t actually think the system is that different, it’s still heavily possession based, just with a lot more rotations. Clubs will still be happy to send us their loan players and might actually value the uniqueness of Tim’s way of playing
Brady is getting his guesswork from Baz's tweets btw. For instance "I reckon Millar is a tough one by the sounds of it. Will have to see how it plays out.", "I’d be surprised, but you never know with these things." (when asked about Zambrano).
So,to sum up. It's not terrible,it's below average,we'll likely be competitive and we've no quality to score goals?
Our bid's a good one, hopefully it will be enough to get him, but there's certainly interest from elsewhere. We're not going to wait forever and they seem resigned to losing him this window, so you'd expect some movement in the next week.
Seen as Moore/Asante have gone down the **** pan I wonder if we can’t tempt Hamburg on Glatzel, he’s still not gone anywhere…
The scoring goals thing is a big worry. We know that the vast majority of those who scored for us last season have left the club. We have one forward: Oscar. Aside from a golden month 2 years ago, nothing he has done suggests he's going to be a consistent goalscorer at this level. And there doesn't seem to be any quality on its way in. If we can't score we won't win, obvs.
We will get some players in that is obvious it is when they can get them done, not worried at all about it main thing for me at the moment is the way we are likely to play under TW and the type of players coming in we will be very vulnerable to teams that play hoof it football suspect a few might when they look at our team.
I'm hoping people like Omur and Longman start chipping in with whatever new signings we bring. Longman looked a more developed player and Omur has shown quality to create the chances. I'm confident some will step up but admittedly maybe not to the levels we saw last year
Personally I think our squad is way off it. I like people's optimism I don't share it. It's difficult to be optimistic going into this season. Seri, Longman, McGloughlin and Giles could still all leave. Should that happen then what? We'd like to assume they won't but, going by the firesale we really can't say. Even if they don't leave the squad doesn't suddenly become so much more impressive because we've added one player to it. The squad we have, out of the 68 goals scored last season, have scored 5 between them. Most of these played a lot of games. Hopefully they step up but, honestly I'd be very surprised. it's a low half finish for me. We need to be realistic here. Maybe 15-20th
Most weren’t allowed past the half way line or out of their zone !! . Tim’s plan is that anyone can get in a position to score , it could be brilliant or chaos - nobody knows .
They may all leave. But if we get people in to replace them, what’s the harm? I know it’s a big ‘if’, and we haven’t replaced the others yet, but these ‘if’s’ and ‘yet’s’ will only truly be seen at the end of August. That’s when we can analyse/criticise the recruitment strategy. We’ll also know how by how many points we’ll have accumulated by then and that will show the true effect of getting players in too late. I think your points above would be valid if there was a week to go. But you’re one of many who are judging too early IMO. I get that people will look at me and say I’m too optimistic, but I trust in this club to get it right. We had a positive season last time out under a playing system which I didn’t rate and I thought held our quality attacking players back. We may have a better playing system this time around. We just need the players again. There is still time to get them.
Glimmer of hope against the Italians Oscar moved towards the ball in the area unlike our previous forwards who stood still and waited for it to drop at their feet !
