That chance that Giles whipped in a wicked cross was a dead certain goal if not for a good clearance from their CB. Oscar was right there to tap it in

I think your points above would be valid if there was a week to go. But you’re one of many who are judging too early IMO. I get that people will look at me and say I’m too optimistic, but I trust in this club to get it right. We had a positive season last time out under a playing system which I didn’t rate and I thought held our quality attacking players back.

We may have a better playing system this time around. We just need the players again. There is still time to get them.

I hope we do replace the players. We definitely could do. That's where I'm at now though it's no longer "will do" It's could do. The expectation that we'll bring in many players has dropped off for me.

By this point last year we had the makings of a pretty decent team. Yes I had reservations of some of the players we brought in and Oscar leaving on loan for some reason. But, the team was good!

This season it's noticeably weaker. It just is. We can't shh away from that. We're going into the new season with a much weaker squad. It's a worry. I hope we put it right and make it stronger this month!

That it's taken us 49 days to sign 3 players is a worry. We need another 6 in 30 days.

It is what it is they will bring players in, it is not worth worrying about till the end of the month then it is still not worth worrying because the window will close alot of posts are people just repeating the same thing.
 
I don't understand why August needs to be a panic month. What's the point? It's just stupid. We can repeat the same excuse as last season. "Give them time to gel!" We could all chip in and provide a lifetime supply of VO5 should help. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

We will sign players. I've been a big complainer about the slow actions but in reality its more bad practice from the club than malice. I expect they get about 6/7 permanents and they then flesh out the squad's quality with some loans.

We already know they're close to Zambrano, Hughes and Millar. They also want a keeper. All go successful that's 4 right there.

It could be brilliant chaos , I don't think they're mutually exclusive

I certainly think less people will be complaining about boring football

We'll have to see if it translates into winning a lot of games

Zambrano is an iffy one. I don't know what he adds. He's just a kid I'm not sure where he slots in.

Millar is a must to complete. I hope it is completed. Seen other clubs want him too though. And going by people saying our location is crap. Will he choose us? It could be why it's taking so long. Talking to other clubs and again our club won't tell us.

Hughes is definitely a must. Immediate Greaves replacement. Already been a captain.

We don’t really have the ‘give them time to gel’ excuse as much this time. Simply because we were ready for another playoff challenge with Rosenior in charge and a decent squad (with maybe one or two of the loanees possibly coming back).

Of course, Tim Walter will rightly get some leeway for a short time. But if we do not have a top 6 team by the end of the season, or at least one that challenges it, it has been a failing on the club to sack Rosenior. The pressure is on.

But I think we will thrive under it and get all that we need, ready for a great season. UTT.

Philogene 22 by your reckoning is a kid plus Delap 21, Endrick 18, Lamine 17 , Mainoo 19 there are loads out there who play a good game Zambrano may turn out to be as good he comes with a reputation and well thought of.

Here's the thing for me with this. My expectations have completely shifted now. With all the change and lack of activity to this point a stable season is something I would hope for. He's going to need a season in my opinion to get it right. If that means being like Boro last year where we start poor but end strong then I'm ok with it. We have to be patient unless it is like the end of Shota's era where we were so bad but I can't see us doing that

This is a controversial point. Those players are young Europeans from big nations. It's very rare for a youngster to be incredible from South America. Especially a nation like Ecuador. Very very rare. He may well be one of the rare ones. But, riddle me this. Would you be the same if we were linked with a youngster from Cuba? Ecuador I just don't know. The nation on the world stage doesn't set it blazing.

We've had players from Peru, Honduras and Congo play for us I dont get your point

Does not matter where they come from if they have the Talent and Reputation that's fine by me whatever age they are as long as it's not my age, if we sign him it could be a coup for the club i doubt very much we would be able to have got him if he had not had the situation he had.
