The deals Chelsea, Villa and Everton are doing right now are crazy. They all need to sell players for PSR reasons. Whereas buying players can mean the transfer fee can amortised over the length of the contract, selling players means the profit you receive immediately counts as income for that year.

it's the same reason that we are nailed on to sell Greaves. Pure profit accountable immediately from an FFP perspective, with incomings spread over a number of years.
Yep. It’s clearly a loophole and Chelsea, Villa and Everton are working together. For example, Villa sell academy product Iroegbunam to Everton for £10 million. Pure profit for Villa and Everton amortise the fee. In turn, Everton sell Dobbin, also an academy product, to Villa for a similar fee. Both clubs net £10 million profit this financial football year and only spend £2 million if they sign the players on five-year contracts.
I wouldn't exactly say it's the same reason. Those three clubs are just being smart arses exploiting a loophole by shuffling Academy players at grossly inflated values. We're selling an asset who is clearly good enough to go to the next level and will net us a massive fee. https://x.com/AliceTalksFooty/statu...^1804527771281948847|twgr^|twcon^s1_&ref_url=
There is something else going on here. Remember Turks love to barter, and both City and Trabzonspor are subject to FFP rules. In the same way that it appears Tufan's transfer fee was on the small size, the same could be said of the fee we paid for Omur coming the other way in the last transfer window. Remember there were rumours about Tufan going back to Turkey in the last transfer window so who knows whether this deal wasn't done back then, with Acun promising Tufan a transfer back to Turkey if we didn't make the play-offs at the end of last season. EDIT: Oh I can see someone else have picked up on this too. Was replying to a post five pages back.
His wife may have wanted a move back to Turkey. I wouldn’t underestimate the influence players’ spouses and families have on transfers.
