Not a player to build a midfield around. Zero point getting rid of Seri to replace him with Norwood. It’s incredibly short-sighted which has been the theme of Acun’s transfer policy since he took over and it’s what has left us in the predicament we’re in now.

For ****’s sake, there were talks of Sonny Bradley coming last summer and people said that would’ve been a good signing because of his ‘experience’. He had to drop down to League One Derby and was even in and out of the side there.
Norwood is different gravy to Bradley though ffs let’s not act like he’s not consistently one of the best in the division.

Sharp was past it in his last season at Sheff United, Norwood was TOTS a year ago…

And the season before Sharp’s last season at Sheffield United he scored 14 goals. Norwood’s past it now. You’re repeating the same thing over and over. Norwood was in the team of the season a year ago. That’s great. Are we spending our transfer budget on a time machine?

I do wonder whether Acun realises that midfielders actually need to run/be competent defensively, as the amount he's signed that can't is pretty staggering.

He actually thought a midfield 3 of Seri, Traore and an unfit Tufan with Woods on the bench would be a successful midfield.

Perhaps a compelling argument for someone like Acun not actually involving himself in transfers and instead hiring someone competent to do it for him..

Which is why he signed Tyler Morton to play alongside him as the runner, knowing we also had Regan Slater and Greg Docherty who are also great at covering ground.

We missed Seri big time while he was away, it's no coincidence that him being at the AFCON coincided with our worst run of form and performances. Tufan finished the season with 10 goals and 2 assists, I'm not sure you could ask for more from an unfit midfielder at this level.

Yes, we could do with a defensive midfielder who can tackle. Walter's tactics at Hamburg used one, I'm sure we'll pick one up.

Walter also said he wasn't expecting early signings and it was more important to get the right players than sign them early.

I agree it's better to get the transfers right but if the new squad doesn't get a pre-season together then the start of the season is going to be tough.

Seri would be a huge miss in any system Tim wants to put in. Like I said he won our most ball statistically in midfield last season. Next to the ‘runners’ of Morton, Slater and Doc that’s interesting. He was easily our best midfielder last year and be very hard to replace.

Mortons a good player but he’s been linked with some big clubs, he isn’t good enough at the moment to be anywhere near those and would be a bench warmer.

That he's a free transfer 33 year old and no club builds their team around a player like that unless they're world class, which Norwood isn't.

Generally you build a team around your best player. He wouldn't be our best player as long as Philogene and Greaves are here.

You mean the Philogene and Greaves that everybody expects to leave so wouldn't be here ?

That's 26 players we have. If you deduct Lokilo, Woods and Longman, who we assume will be leaving, that gives us 23. 10 players added to that is 33 first team players. We had 37 players make first team appearances last season, so 10 seems about right if you account for January.

That list also highlights where the reinforcements need to be prioritised; there's a glaring hole in both full back areas, the right side of midfield and up front. We're going to need at least two, probably three strikers depending on whether TSF is going to be in the first team picture or loaned out.
