Regarding the Americans we've had at the club (Auston Trusty and Matt Turner), I wonder if this is something we'll carry on doing. Bringing unknown talents to the club from the States, develop them (either through a loan move or at the club) and sell them for a profit.

Bought Trusty for £1.3m and sold him for £5m.
Bought Turner for £7m and purported fee is around £12m-£17m.

Could be an interesting strategy to gain some extra cash.

We’ve rejected a bid from Monaco for Balogun. Inter still interested, but they’re not sure if they have the funds to sign him.

Tierney wanted by Sociedad on loan. No chance we should accept unless they offer an obligation/option to buy.

Hope he stays, he's quality and adds depth to our defensive options.

£50m to anybody who wants him though. None of this loan bollocks

    Otherwise we should keep him

The problem is he doesn't seem to suit us stylistically and seems to be further down the pecking order. Even Kiwior has featured more at left back than him. He got no proper minutes in pre-season, either.

I don't think we'll get £50m unless a Prem club offers that. If it's a foreign club, we will probably accept less.

    If it's Newcastle then it's £65m

We’ve got the ‘Here we Go!’ from Fabrizio for David Raya.

£30m package overall. £25m + £5m in add-ons. Selling Turner to Forest for £10m. So essentially we’ve bought Raya for circa £20m. Decent business.

    Turner’s move to Forest complete.

I really liked him as a person and he’s a solid goalkeeper, but unfortunately, if he wants to be #1 for the national team, he needs to be playing regularly. As good as his shot stopping and command of his area generally was, his kicking/distribution really lets him down. He was never a serious threat to displace Ramsdale.

    All the best, Matt!

Thought we’d be selling him, but I’m glad if we’ve been able to convince him to stay and continue his development. Think this would be a good move for the kid though.

Oh wow, looks like the Raya deal is a loan with an option to buy. I didn’t expect that! How’ve we pulled that off? <laugh>

I really like Tierney but there's no place for him in the side.

    Right Now...

Zinchenko , Timber & Tomiyasu are all ahead of him for the LB position. He's arguably our 4th choice LB.<yikes>

The problem is he's a traditional fullback and Arteta currently doesn't accommodate that in his system.

At least we know why Tavares isn’t moving. He wants to stay in England, which is blocking his exit away from the club.

I think this is great - he's still only 19.
Talent wise I rate him a lot higher than Rice, but he has to develop on his potential.
He's getting the Saliba treatment - and I suspect he is willing to stay and develop because of how it turned out with Saliba.
Young players at Arsenal now know that they are still in the game if they get loaned out for 2-3 seasons.

Honestly think his only route to being useful for us is as a LWF - and he's behind Martinelli, Trossard and ESR in that regard.
His defensive lapses are something I don't want to see.

He had a few absolute shockers when he was playing for us. Not just mistakes that can happen to any defender, but proper brain farts that render him a liability

Strange player, because he actually looked solid when he first came in, to the extent at the time most were totally happy with him keeping Tierney out of the team. His energy and bursts forward are a strength, BUT, as soon as was called upon defensively in tougher games he was left seriously wanting. He just looked like a rabbit in headlines and would just pass the ball anywhere, including into danger that cost us goals. I can't see any way he can be in a defensive position.
