Maximum on outbound loans anywhere, but it's much higher than that. Believe it's 8 or some such.

Edit: here it is on the PL site:

https://www.premierleague.com/news/464747

Loans between Premier League clubs and other English counterparts are officially called temporary transfers.

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2022/23 (Download PDF, size: 8MB), there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

Yeah, I still don't understand the rules <laugh>

So with the Gakpo deal off, who do we go for now? Joao Pedro and Ismaila Sarr still haven't left Watford, so they could be options. Give them Redmond as part of a deal for one?

I'd rather go abroad TBH. Buying from English clubs this late will cost an absolute fortune.

Not sure I’d be a fan of leaving it till January, when every year we hear “The club don’t like to deal in January because the prices are too high”

Yeah, I'm pretty sure in June we'd have been delighted to have signed a keeper, CB, CM, winger and striker who all looked like marked upgrades, along with several young starlets for the B side. Certainly hoping we can do more, but this has already been a hell of a window.

This. I would love a big money attacker coming in, but it has to be the right player. Gakpo was one of those. There are others out there. If it doesn't happen today then so be it. I'd rather we took more time and brought in a player who will fit Ralph's style than rush a player in and he doesn't work out at all. SR are showing ambition, they're willing to spend big money. That in itself is music to my ears after the Gao fiasco.

So no Goncalo Ramos and no Gakpo.

I wonder who the 3rd choice is, or whether the club will now leave it til January

Tbh our forward options whilst not perfect don’t appear to be dire. If we play 1 up front as we did against Chelsea we have four options: Adams, Mara, A Armstrong and Ballard.

Ok it’s not ideal but they have all started the season well and we have done a lot of good work elsewhere.

Would rather we didn’t rush into buying someone for the sake of it and end up spending loads on a dud.

Besides if both Bednarek and Stephens are off a CB becomes more important imo.

Gakpo was going to cost a fortune? Pedro was rumoured to be going for £25m. Hardly breaking the bank.
Gakpo is a much better and more established player. Pedro is only 20 or 21. Great potential but we can get better, more established player for 25mill.

I’d be very happy to get Pedro, but we already have Mara who is our ‘potential ceiling’ striker. As you say, if we can get a hybrid 10/striker in that has a few more miles under the belt, well…that would be lovely.

The club probably can’t win. There are already mutterings of “Carrillo” with connection to a late big money attacking purchase

So make one that appears out of the blue - “we’ve done another carrillo” (and some even said that about Ramos weeks ago)

Don’t invest heavily in an attacker - “Sports Republic are terrible owners and just like Gao”, “What a let down” etc

Yeah, Pedro would be a very good signing. I wouldn't say no but with Mara and the youngster from City coming in we've got plenty of potential in young attacking players. Plus the likes of Ballard and Doyle from our own academy.
