Wouldn't tempt me in the slightest tbh. I see KWP as our best player. (And I don't value Broja as high as Chelsea do.)

Even £25m plus Broja I would be unsure about. More like £40m plus Broja.

Likewise.

We already have a porous defence and little creativity. And we would be selling our best defender and one of our most creative players.

Makes no sense at all at any price IMO.

Like Che but not against selling him if we can bring in a replacement. His finishing is good but his first touch does not fit the way Ralph likes to play.

Selling Che this summer at this stage would be madness. He is our only striker that we know is PL level, despite not scoring hatfulls of goals. Armstrong we hope will have a better season this season, but he was well down the pecking order last season and didn't look up to it. Hopeful for AArmstrong but putting your eggs in his basket is a recipe for disaster imo. And Mara we have no idea how he will find the PL! We already need one striker and everything suggests they are likely to be young and inexperienced. We need Che this season!

The Times today says we have had the second worse transfer window after Everton.

Yeah I read this too - it's a classic "I don't know much about Saints, and can't really be arsed to look into it in any detail, so I'll just rehash old news".

I mean he talks about not having replaced Ings and...err...Vestegaard still...

Well tbf we havent replaced Ings (unless you think it went Ings > Broja > Mara)

As DTLW put it, we will look back on this window in a few years time as a stroke of genius where we brought in a few players who went on to have great careers, or we won’t remember who half the players are we signed as they flopped

No, I know we haven't, but it was more "I think they're in trouble, but then they survived last season without replacing Ings and Vestergaard" - it just smacked of not knowing much about the club or what we've done during this summer.

In contrast he was very much YAY BRIGHTON they'll be towards top half because they've signed...umm...a bloke they loaned out last season to Belgium, and a couple of kids. They've lost Bissouma and probably Cucurella.

With Brighton I guess the thinking is that even without Bissouma and possibly Cucurella the rest of the squad is better than most other teams in the bottom half

I get most of the rationale, and I get why people might worry about us. It was just one of those pieces where he hadn't really looked properly at Saints (which I also get), and it showed.

I agree LTL, it often seems the case that few seem to be bothered to research Saints in any great detail, but think l have become accepting of it over the years. The quality of journalism is so low these days, its hard to find a good informative article to read.

Who knows what this season will bring. TBH, l am not worrying overly, simply because there are so many unknowns it is not worth fretting about it. I look at Bournemouth and it seems there is no intent to even attempt to stay up. I look at Forest who have recruited so many players that you wonder how they will be able to develop a squad spirit to challenge the adversities they will surely face.
