A bit, but more to do with a mate who knows the Red Bull set ups well.

Gvardiol was also featured in BBC's Wunderkids series:

He's the sort of very-well-regarded that probably precludes us signing him, unfortunately, but if we're planning to get frisky chasing players one move away from being worth near-nine-figures, he's the sort of player you'd go for.

Reactions: Le Tissier's Laces
He’s more of a left back I thought anyway. Have seen him play there both for Leipzig and Croatia.

Here's another Canadian player who would be excellent at Saints. It's a shame we didn't go for Johanthan David 3 years ago, when I and Shad I believe on here suggested him.

One of those that's a bit of both, but it wouldn't be a bad plan for us to bring him in for LB as well, as Perraud is decent, but very improvable. I think what probably precludes us (as well as why would you leave Leipzig for us right now) is the fact he's basically Salisu's position.

McCarthy signed a contract extension according to Dan Sheldon. While I do think we will and should be looking at a new no.1 GK anyway, we do at least have a first team GK going into next season. We have no reason yet to doubt what Dan Sheldon reports, though granted it's very strange that we've not announced the extension.

Definitely agree that we need to be looking at acquisitions that will come in and improve the starting 11, and this is our first real chance to see where we stand in the market now with the new owners.
McCarthy is not a premier league standard goalkeeper

The keepers do have to take some responsibility for what's going on in front of them. A good keeper needs to marshal the defence in front of him so I'm not sure the keepers should get a free pass and TBH we need an upgrade.

I agree. Someone the other day, sorry can’t remember who, was reminiscing about the leadership qualities of Shilts, who never stopped talking to his defence. That’s the kind of keeper we should be looking at really. All our current CB’s would benefit from such a figure telling them when to close down a threat, or stay back and watch for runners.

We'd all like a better keeper, but personally I'd rather we focus on getting in a striker, a playmaker, a CM, a CB, and a back-up RB before we move on to keeper.
