Not for the wages and contract length he would likely want. I assume he was on at least 100k per week. Even half of that is probably more than I'd offer given how little he has done for years

He might want high wages (but then again, he might not). But it doesn't mean he will get high wages.

Even as a free transfer, he's in an incredibly poor negotiating position. If he wants to stay in the PL, I suspect he'll be lucky to get a single offer which is anything close to his previous salary.

Most of them aren’t there anymore! They lost 8 of their first team at the start of this summer due to loans or contracts expiring. They have refreshed their squad every year under their current owners. Personally I think it’s a fair approach. I think they’re a much more interesting addition to the league than the likes of Bournemouth who are going to duck and cover.
