Just watched Gary nevilles soccerbox on sky, Micheal Owen was the guest. Turns out when he left Newcastle we where actually in for him.....he ended up at Man Utd. So it turns out maybe there was a chance his helicopter could have landed at hymers.

We knew we were in for him, that's how the whole helicopter at Hymers joke started.
 
Always thought that was just Phil Brown name dropping Owen to the media for attention, he knew we had no chance of signing him.
 
It's in Owens book, the choice was 'a relegation battle with Hull or Manchester United'.... City were in for him and for a time Owen considered the offer, in fact I think Man U hijacked the deal when Ferguson spoke to Owen at a celebrity dinner.
