He was PFA Scotland Young Player of the year for 2013-14 and in the PFA Scotland Team Of The Year for 2013-14, while playing for Dundee United in the SPL, he'd also played for the Scotland first team, of course people in Scotland had heard of him. <doh>

It's like suggesting that English football fans aren't aware of Jack Grealish or Trent Alexander-Arnold.
How right you are. Sign your name across my heart was a great song.

Agreed.
Outside of lower level Scottish team fans, maybe a couple of Scottish pro scouts, and one who shopped him around to English clubs, no-one even in Scotland would have any knowledge of the lad. The fact that he was a smart lad, and very decent player, was what made him get out of the nobody category. We (HCAFC) took a punt on a nobody and it worked. If my memory serves me well - we either sent a scout up there once (or got wind of him from a local scout) to watch him play for Dundee Utd ! Robbo's determination made the difference .
Wasn't it brought about due to a conversation between Steve Bruce and Gordon Strachan? I seem to remember reading it somewhere.

I've played in a Scottish League over here for over 30 years - 95 % ex-Scots - maybe 150 of them. All avid Scottish PL supporters. What else have they got to do ?

No-one I talked to had ever heard of Andy Robertson. They are all Rangers,Celtic (90 % the latter), Hibs, Hearts or Aberdeen supporters.
Seems the same distribution back in Scotland. They know about him now. Back in 2014 they didn't. Wasn't that the point of the original poster HullPhil ?

FWIW, I have colleagues based in Scotland.
The 3 that I talk football with all knew of him.
Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen followers.
Not really worth debating though is it?

Apparently we've submitted an improved 2nd bid for Tommy Orpington. Well thought of and decent record.

When I was up in Aberdeen I used to go to most home games at Pittodrie. Celtic games, their fans more or less never watched the game, they spend there time looking to the end where the vocal Aberdeen supporters were and shouted and gestured abuse at them.

For the most part, Rangers fans did watch the games, but still managed to shout the abuse.

I used to go up there back in the late 70's/80's(Rangers)....Always guaranteed a good rumble post match!!

I worked for Craibs transport(Aberdeen) for 8 years at their Cumbernauld depot.George Craib and Eddie Anderson were well known Aberdeen businessmen.Eddie sold it last year and now owns No 1 bar and grill in Aberdeen.

I certainly know the company name, as we used their transport from time to time, but didn't get to meet the owners as far as I can remember.
