QUOTE="GLP, post: 14156410, member: 1001744"]I think there’s been a reasonable job on recruitment. Some of the players brought in you hope can grow with the team. If the players are good enough to get out of league one, then what’s to say they won’t do a Sheff United and fire us into the top spots of the championship?[/QUOTE] Because Allams will sell those that do shine and replace them with more young potential, rinse, repeat, ... That's now their business model.
De Bruyne's come to his senses and decided to finally sign for City. He's quoted as saying 'Premier League's too easy, I want the challenge of being kicked to **** by a team of plumbers and electricians on a Tuesday night in Rochdale'.
A few seem to think it could be Jacob Ramsey at Villa. 19 years old, scored 3 in 7 at Doncaster last season. England U19s international.
I don’t really want to see the club sign another kid on loan to get some experience. I’d rather give our own fringe players the experience.
I thought Max Sheaf would have been given more of a chance, but he seems to have fallen behind Jones in the pecking order. Batty might go out on loan at this rate.
Exactly my sentiment. Why sign an inexperienced 19 or 20-year-old kid from Liverpool's reserves or wherever when we've got Batty eager to start and Callum Jones, Billy Chadwick and Max Sheaf all from our own academy? Few of our academy players ever get a chance at City. We always seem to sign teenagers from Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal etc. on loan rather than give our own homegrown lads a few games. If it was Herbie Kane we were signing on loan then fair enough because he's tried and tested at Championship level so I'd love to have him back on a permanent even, but I just don't see the point signing a kid from a Premier League reserve team on loan when we've got our own youngsters waiting for game time.
Can't see it being this lad.... Apparently we've an option to buy after the loan. Villa ain't gunna sell this lad, nor will we be able to afford him.
Possibly because they are better then what we have? Possibly because by bringing them in to sit on our bench it frees up our youngsters to go on loan and get actual game time rather them 5 mins once in a blue moon with us? Possibly because bringing these players in our management feel we have a better chance of achieving promotion?
Yes, that's exactly what I said; 'all loans are bad'. Did Harry Wilson prevent us from getting relegated last season? No, because he wasn't our player. He did a good job in the 6 months or so he was with us and that was that. I'd rather give Chadwick, Sheaf and Callum Jones a chance rather than stunt their development and release them because we signed an academy player from a Prem team who will never play for us again after this season.
Most of our youngsters go out on loan and then get released without ever getting a chance. Was Josh Bowler better than what we had last season? Did he deserve to be ahead of KLP in that squad last season?
They get released because they aren't good enough. KLP wasn't ready for a relegation battle and it's probably done him the world of good to not have been dragged Into it. He is showing now that he his ready and his taking his chance.
