I would too, he knows where the goal is, and as we are likely to be in Div 1 next season he would be a good addition.
I got a sneaky suspicion the offer wasn't as straight forward as it seems. No pay?..1 year extension.....less pay? No proof but wouldn't put it past them.
I think we know that now, I posted that before the Athletic article, it was obvious what they were offered was a joke.
They do it so that it looks like they've tried. It might as well have been an offer to play for a bag of Skittles and a can of Special Brew, they were never gonna sign whatever was put to them.
The way I understand it, the players are paid until the end of June. If come July (not sure when in July) they haven’t found a club they get a severance pay which is one months wages. The club didn’t take the option on the contract at the same level because they could be l1. So if Lichaj and Jackson the capt and vice capt didn’t fancy it, even though they would have got paid for playing then I can see the clubs point in a way. I bet they still take the severance pay in July. I might have understood it wrong obviously
Trouble is, Ehab doesn't negotiate, he just dictates. His way or the highway if you like. Lichaj and Irvine took the highway and we lost our captain and vice captain before a crucial relegation battle. For the sake of one months salary to each of them. This is after spunking "six figures" on Maddison. But, best run club and all that...
but it wasn’t for one months salary, they get a severance pay in July Players are paid very well, there will be a lot of people who won’t go back to work after furlough. Irvine and Lichaj won’t play but will still take their pay off
Because their contracts says they are entitled to it, so good luck to them. They expected an extra years contract and got **** all. Not surprisingly, they are disappointed and have gone off in a huff. But Ehab wont care, he's saved a bit and can put it towards a car or a hair transplant. The club is going down the toilet, but he's saved a bit of cash. Well done Ehab
It was an option in the clubs favour not a guarantee (I might be wrong) Why would the club commit to giving them the same money when they could be in l1. Covid 19 wasn’t even a thing when the contract was signed. So again this has changed things Kev Stewart will play and he probably won’t be here next season unless he takes a massive pay cut
