I think at lot of the top teams will be off loading their fringe and young players in an attempt to satisfy FFP so there will be some good options out there in the summer however we will struggle with the wages of some of these I strongly suspect.
If Sunderland go down, how about Adam Johnson?

Wages are way too high

Chelsea to do a clear out apparently

Alot of them are probably too expensive or already grasped by others but it might be worth a look, for a back up keeper atleast, Schwarzer is getting on but he's experienced and would probably be happy as back up.

I'd pass on signing a keeper coming to the end of his career. We already have one of those. We need a keeper that will be with us years and develop with our young squad.

Coloccini is possibly the best CB in the Prem and deserves to play in a decent defence. Everything Newcastle do starts with him, and he badly misses Cabaye as an option to take the ball off him. I'd buy him like a shot, although my Newcastle-supporting daughter would be heartbroken.

Buy her a pony.

Getting a good keeper is a minefield. They can look talented when young, but never get the nous to be a top keeper. Some comes with experience, but many don't have the instinct and intelligence and never will. We desperately need a second keeper, but even keepers cost a bit now. SKD can act as our third keeper for now as presumably we can't afford to buy two, so he could be back up. Are there any good prospects in the Academy and Development squads?

Fair enough, i think getting a decent keeper is always a trick, barring serious injury any decent keeper will play 90% or more of a teams games so you either pay out the nose for a new 1st choice or find a keeper happy to sign for a club to sit the bench for most of it.

I know clubs can change first choice depending on form (the early part of our last season for example) but most managers and teams will avoid that as much as possible for stability, so generally speaking a 2nd choice keeper will remain just that for long stretches.

Ment young as in young for a keeper, say about 24. I don't think Boruc will be first choice next season.

I think Boruc will be first choice, because I can't see us spending the serious money needed to get a keeper better than him. On his day, he's brilliant...just needs a few more of those days before the end of the season.

Not every good player costs loads.... You just have to be good at finding them.

Well the outstanding keepers in Europe this season are Levante's Keylor Navas and Lille's Vicent Enyeama. The latter went 1062 minutes without conceding a goal at a point this season.

Fraser Forster went over 1200 minutes, he wins, and he's English so our fans would like him.

So do people think we will be buying a new no1? I am still saying yes right now.

We won't splash out on one, and I don't think it will be Pochettino's aim to replace Boruc, but he does need better competition for his place.

That's the thing, we don't have the 8th best goalkeeping trio in the league right now. Also if Davis retires from playing we will need to find someone new. I'm fine with Artur for another year but if better is out there for reasonable money then it's a good opportunity, whether that's ahead or behind Boruc. Forster would be good, basically England's no.2 (or about to be).

In terms of goalkeepers in the development squad...

I know we are looking at signing Ted Smith from Southend United. He's 17 and I know him because I used to play against him! He's Southend United's 3rd senior keeper and their U21 keeper.

He's also the #1 for England U18s.
