France Football linking Saints with Stuttgart's Ibrahima Traoré.
Can't see AVB doing that. He's doing well at Spurs...nearly made the CL. But then again I am often naïve about people and their loyalty.
Saints are not great users of the loaning out system, apart from when a player is already on his way out of Saints. I think that when a player is considered a real prospect...they prefer that he doesn't go elsewhere and learn bad habits.
Not sure that's true. I don't really think saints have ever been in a position to loan players out. If they had promise they were in the team as we never had a big playing budget. Only the championship promotion attempted season of rasiak and co when surman had a year at Bournemouth and came back to be a big part of our team. I imagine now with the academy churning out higher standard players and in a larger quantity and also with the team progressing so quickly we will start to see our brighter prospects getting some championship and league 1 loans in their late teens. Chambers Turnbull etc will benefit more from 20 games of league football than u21 league again.
On a selfish note its always nice to see how the young lads get on in league games, it's a good and no stress side story to following saints!
Barca don't loan out their players. If we're modelling ourselves on them, I think we'll probably look to keep hold of them and bring them up in line with "The Southampton Way"
JWP for me wasn't used enough last season. At times, I felt he should have come on to give us that extra energy. I never understood why Nigel suddenly lost interest in him. I don't mean with Cork coming back, I mean as a used substitute. I'd have brought him on more. If I recall correctly, did he start on the bench against United at home? I seem to remember saying to my Dad whilst at the game that we needed fresh legs in midfield... I'll have to check that out.

I think he started the first 2-3 games so I'm thinking he did start.

If by "United" you mean Manchester United, James Ward-Prowse played the entire game at St Mary's vs Man Utd.

This thread has become a little like day trips to the seaside with my children when they were young. It was always a constant asking of "When will we be there?", "How much longer?" or "I'm bored." then they would bicker and argue in a very silly way and inevitably one or the other would end up in tears.
