1) The club didn't protect Suarez the way it should have.
Don't give me the "blah blah t-shirts" crap. That wasn't the issue. The issue is when sports "journalists" were attacking him, making snide remarks, pushing him out of the country, and so on, our Director of Communications was too busy threatening fans to step up and take some pressure off of the player. Strong worded press releases can silence some critics, naming and shaming specific journalists can shut them up a bit. We didn't do that. A lot of times we left him out to face the press when we shouldn't have (ie. Mansfield).
2) Despite this, the club has been more than good to him.
He got a pay raise, a new contract, more attention, played in a preferred role, etc. We stood by him when his stupidity came to light, and we should expect the same. You are a footballer, man the **** up and forget about it. Play the game, win every week, and you will be fine. Had he not bitten someone, he'd have won the golden boot maybe. The fans sing his name and forget his actions because we love him. He needs to repay that.
3) 40m is a joke. That values him at only 2m better than Aguero, Shevchenko, Veron, Robinho, Rio etc. He's miles better than them (Aguero is good, but hasn't been getting that much better lately). I don't care if he's unhappy. He's one of the top players in the world. Top 5 at least, we can get more than 50 for him. Consider if we could milk 50 out of Chelsea for Torres, then we can milk at least 50 for Suarez from any club. If someone wants to offer 40m, then fine. Let them offer and reject them. 50+m or he's not leaving. Hold him to ransom, play him week in week out. I doubt he's a player that would refuse to play, he's not ungrateful to the club - just tired of the country.
4) Sturridge and Coutinho aren't enough for me to suddenly believe that Rodgers is some kind of talent scout. He's been wrong and right. And half of the alleged targets here are FM wonderkids or FIFA prodigies. Some are ok, some are average. We need to replace like for like. We can't afford to lose a world class player for an Andy Carroll type, who will take a year and half to start doing something useful.
Also, why does it seem that the players with the best chants leave the club? We need to stop giving them catchy songs and start singing "Suarez-whoah" or something. It's only the ones with cracking chants that leave the club.
