“Luis Suarez is a wonderful player and he is still very much a Liverpool player," Rodgers said.

“He has got three years left on his contract. We are looking forward to him helping us get into the Champions League spots.
“That's a competition we are fighting to get into. The great name and history of Liverpool dictates it should be in that competition.
“It is difficult these days with the finance some clubs have but I believe that we will put up a great fight this season. Let's hope we can get back to where we belong."
Suarez still has six games of his suspension for biting Branislav Ivanovic to serve but Rodgers believes he can put the controversy behind him.
He added: “What Luis did was wrong. He apologised to me and to his team-mates and the supporters.
“He will serve his punishment and now we have to put it behind us. We will move on and move on together. He knew what he did was wrong and he was told he was wrong by the football club."

Now I've read that from Rodgers, I'm sticking my house on him being a Madrid player by the 1st Sept

Hoping he does go to RM, he clearly doesn't want to be here and if he goes abroad then he can't come back to bite us in the arse.

Dunno tobes, I appreciate everyone is playing games here, but there's talk today of RM being after Aguero. And Bale still.... how the ****, biggest club in the world or not, can they even afford £30m for suarez, let alone £40-50m? Think they've 'sold' Ronaldo?

Yes, nothing against Arsenal but our only remote chance of CL football will probably be from depriving them, Spurs and everton of fourth place, the top three place probably being accounted for.

Maybe I should have read more than just the first line
Either Rodgers is smarter than he looks (and the damn shark doesn't look smart at all) and he's playing the long con to drive the price up, or Suarez will still be here come the next season. I think he sees Luis as the difference between 6th and 4th (sorry, can't count Everton as in the race this season) and has a high valuation for him far beyond what any normal club would offer. Real, PSG and Monaco aside, I don't see him leaving. Monaco seem finished for transfers this summer and PSG haven't shown much/any interest so far. Real, for all their wealth, have spent 70mill already and still want Bale or Aguero. Where's the magical 40mill+ for Suarez going to come from? They're not THAT rich...
