He has scored against Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs (not sure about City though) - he might not be at his influential best in the big games but he still makes an impact.

With regards to that fact, I think it's misleading. The stat may be true but that's helped by the fact we finished 12 points ahead of the next placed team. Had we finished higher up the table where the margins are a lot tighter, we would have dropped places without Suarez's goals (if that makes sense).

all true.... we broke faster without him... his lay offs at times when we try to play through him are dire and i thought sturridge ran channels and suited countinho and gerrard perfectly.

i think suarez misses more cos he religiously shoots early. i think he was trained early to get defenses and keepers off thier game by not letting them get set. he misses but then instinctive goals come and he looks great.

I want to believe this, but we must remember that our last matches had little pressure and (with all due respect) we played against teams that had nothing to play for e.g. QPR, Fulham.

But as you say, Suarez isn't the be all etc - especially now that we have Coutinho and Sturridge leading the attack.

yeah and no matter what having an option like him is a real great thing. without him we are bare bones. we need two class buys out of the cash.

oh and i should also say before coutinho and sturridge came we were also bare bones... they added options. my point is i really don't want to see us go back to having one option only as aspas can't be the go to guy yet. if we lose suarez we need a striekr.

But that's largely because 8th was so far behind us -12 points, was it? It's one in the eye for those who accused us of being a one-man team, but it overlooks his overall contribution to the game as well.
Off the top of my head, I seem to remember his goals crucial in getting us draws with Chelsea and City, and a win over Spurs.

It's funny, the two lads I live with say to me daily "When Suarez leaves your ****ed". I ask them what their reasoning is and they can't give me an answer. Yes, when Suarez was banned we played against lower opposition, but bare in mind the only team above us that we beat last season was Spurs at home. Suarez is a phenomenal player and is underrated still by most fans other than us, but, you often find when a player who is the vocal point of your team leaves, it gives a great opportunity for some one else to step-up. We saw it when he was banned, the way Coutinho and Sturridge responded, they complimented each other perfectly, then you even had have Henderson who stepped up his game.

Now I still have doubts about whether or not we can keep Sturridge fit for a whole season, but when you look beyond Suarez we still have some dynamic players up-front who will threaten any team, and I include Aspas in this just because I have a great feeling about him. Add potentially another attacker to replace Suarez, I think this season we can afford to lose him more than last.

its just an excuse for the wind up... every player is replaceable. ronadlo... ronaldinho... gerrard will be... its jsut the way of the world.

as long as the team has options to turn to on any given day... we are ok. I agree about sturridge and fitness. I think he's really got a long history of injuries.... you want to add to him. aspas for me needs to be considered more of a kuyt on the wing that the guy up top as i think he's light weight so far. he could be very good in that role or useless but at least right now he's an option. right now we've him, suarez and sturridge which is far far better than torres and n'dog. I agree lose him this year... ok lets do it, we've options... last summer was a disaster for that.

Problem is we can't just settle for being ok. We can't say its the way of the world to let him leave. At this point he is the difference between another rebuilding season finishing 7th and finally giving a decent run for fourth.

You can debate that all you want, but Sturridge, Coutinho, Henderson and the likes haven't proved they can be better than Luis. They did match his contribution in the last few games, but let's be real- those weren't an accurate representation of a race for 4th place. We had no pressure as we couldn't drop any places and we couldn't gain any.

Its not enough to match his contribution, if we want to improve our team we have to exceed his contribution. Him leaving makes it even harder.

I agree but with 40 million we should be able to get a good replacement plus the signings that have been added this Summer. I think we are in a good position, if he stays then great if he leaves then we get a replacement with the money.

With the £50m for Torres, £30m for Alonso and £24m for Mascherano - we should have been able to build a top quality side.

However, I do have more optimism with how we use our money with the new transfer committee in place.

That money should have been put to better use, we cannot afford to make the same mistake again.

Let's hope so. You get the sense that we're learning how to use our resources a lot better.

But I can't help but get worked up over the waste of money over the past few years and missed opportunities. Kenny's spree seriously depresses me.

One can simply not expect Gerrez to go out of his way to search for something, he's too lazy.
