I suppose if we keep him and he has a season with no major incidents and bags a load of goals we will get the 50-60 million his footballing ability should get in this modern era too Edit: saying that, he will be a year closer to the end of his contract
If you are going to say top five strikers then Suarez isn't in there for me. If you say top five forwards then he is. #notagoalscorer
Please can you define striker and forward. The two are there to score goals. If Suarez is not a goal scorer.#then I am confused.
I think I know what you mean - the best comparison is with Torres. Torres was a natural goal scorer i.e. put him 1 on 1 and he'll most likely score. Suarez will need a few bites of the cherry. However, Suarez is still a goalscorer - his record for Uruguay, Ajax and LFC (last season) proves that but he's just not clinical.
The Way of Love 13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. 13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. About Love....Not Suarez
A striker is there to score goals. A forward is there to make things happen plus score/create goals. Same reason I argue that he is not a natural goalscorer; IMO, a striker should be able to finish at a ratio of at least one in three, Suarez as a ratio of about one in nine! A natural goalscorer will have been scoring at the better ratio (or similar) for most of his career, if they haven't then they have learnt their trade, ie not natural!
I was talking about striker to forward which is slightly different to scorer vs natural scorer IMO. I've answer above anyway Scoring lots of goals for Uruguay and Ajax is not earth shattering, any forward playing for them should be expected to bag a hat full. They both have to play much weaker opposition. same goes for Real or Barca players, I'd expect them to have higher figures.
Do you think Liverpool will accept the bid from Real Madrid that will potentially come in this week, including the offer of striker Gonzalo Higuain?
there is 90% certainly no such offer will come in. higuin is a 25mil player at his best. they have knocked the sharpness off him so he's 20mil at best.
Bah, -semantics. Suarez isn't a "natural" (i.e. clinical) goalscorer, but he is a good goalscorer. If he needs more chances, but he makes those chances, then it doesn't matter. Player A scores 10 goals from 15 chances, player B scores 10 from 20 chances. It's still 10 goals for their team.
What if there is someone else in a better position for those chances! Fair enough he created them himself but his teammates will get annoyed with not getting the ball, especially if he misses so many. Eventually, they will stop making the runs and it will become harder for Luis to do it alone. There has been evidence of this already IMO. I've said it many times. Luis works hard for the team but he is not a team player. Ultimately, it is the team that matters
ok.. if you make 15 chances only then the guy who gets 10 form 15 is better than the guy who gets 6/7 out of it. we can endlessly go around about the whole thing... suarez closes down, he kics, bite punches, name calls, winds up,dives and does everything to gain advantage. he shoots early, he plays on instinct. etc etc.
He also gets a lengthy ban every other season! One interesting stat is that if you take out Suarez's goals from last season we still finished 7th. Some goals are more important Than others, not saying he didn't play his part in our wins, but didn't have his best performances in the big games.
its true but mostly when we talk about forwards you could go do the same analysis on them.. ronadlo for example.. or even messi... i do not think we would be 7th is he was not there... particularly the first half.
There are a fews ways of looking at that statistic though. If he wasn't playing then someone else would have been, they could have got more goals/assists or they could have disrupted the teams flow. What about vs Norwich when he got the hat-tricks? I think he cored first in both so would we have still broken the deadlock had he not scored? I don't think Suarez is the be-all-and-end-all for our team, I actually think we played better in the last few games when he was missing. As I said above, he works hard for the team but IMO he is not a team player. Edit: also as much to do with the gap between us and eighth I believe
