Interesting tho it is, no article I've read actually quote Luis as saying he is going to leave to play CL next season(13/14). Just lots of 'Anyone would find it hard to resist the opportunity to play for Real Madrid'. Rumours about what was said in the meetings with Ian Ayre and Brendan Rodgers with Pere Guardiola allegedly saying his client wanted to leave for CL footie. But no solid, attributable quotes. Realistically, we should look at what Real can offer. I know it was earlier said by Gerrez that we should stick with the £40mil no options, no swaps ideal, but I really wouldn't want to get to mid/late August and getting a Transfer Request that late. I think (personally) it would be sensible to see what Real could offer us to sweeten the deal. As I mentioned earlier, Higuain, the Gunners' preferred target, would make a suitable swap target, with some change thrown in. As he's a year younger than Suarez, we'd get a goal getter with a few less miles on the clock, but he might not want to come to a club outside of the CL. An alternative would be Alvaro Morata, a promising 20-year-old with a good scoring record in Segunda. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1676391-liverpool-transfer-news-reds-should-move-luis-suarez-for-alvaro-morata Rated at ~£8mil, we'd still want something near £30mil in the balance, but he's had some limited game time in La Liga, scoring a couple from the bench and playing the full 90 against Barca, making one for Benzema. Good movement and strong in the air, he's been likened to Fernando Morientes...
Luis Suarez: "I am back with Liverpool on July 21 and prepare for Australia tour. I like that I'm valued by Arsenal." Looks like Luis Suarez has talked about Arsenal Luis Suarez for @Sport890 - "Now there are two or three options and the club knows about it." (via @Bambino627) If all that is true and accurate and he has used the "I hate English media" as a ploy to get a move but then moves to an English club, pretty low.
ah bluff c'mon! I would like being valued by a lot of people but that means nothing. lets not get o nhis back on that. he said what he said but there's no point jumping on everything to build a big sloppy hock of bad will when in fact he'll be in preseason and real may never bid.
i would like to be valued as well lol, no dif to us being linked to a player and they turn round and saying they are flattered to be linked, doesn't mean its going to happen or they have any intention to move, but it doesn't alienate anyone by saying you are flattered.
In all honesty, I couldn't give a phuck anymore! If he stays great! If he goes abroad for a bucket load of money, great! If he goes to a club here for a bucket load of money, great! Not "down" with this he "owes..." he's self employed, he'll go where ever he thinks the grass is greener and where he'll get more money, wouldn't we all? We've sold/have retired many a good/great player before, we'll do it again. If he stays and with the additions made since Jan, I think we'll have a great chance for top 4. If he goes and Rodgers gets to use that money and brings in 2/3 Fords for the positions of need in our team, again I think we'll have a great chance for top 4.
Both of you please notice the IF that I started with. Not getting worked up over it, thought I would post some new stuff or what he is telling south american journos.
i did notice the if, but not sure what i have said that was wrong, i just linked your comment to what other players have said about being flattered about coming here, but doesn't mean they have any intention of doing so.
We been through this one, there's no direct quote attributable to either Suarez or Guardiola saying he wants to leave for CL football. It only cites the interviews he gave weeks ago to the Uruguayan press, but there was never any mention of that at the time, only him fluttering his eyelashes at Real. It's a journo trick to mention a few verifiable facts and come up with an entirely unjustified conclusion- it's what they do. Of course it may turn out to be true, but there's no evidence at the moment and no point in hanging him just yet.
probably more towards Mito comment. I understand the flattery and all that, just think he needs to be careful with what he says ( not that he will as past has shown) as he has gone on a long long tirade against the English media and witha comment like that could draw more and more speculation, media coming to him with questions, etc. We will see. Would love for him to stay but who knows. Still think he will be gone in August, just not sure where now.
saint, being said on SSN that he would like to play in the CL but will not force a transfer to get it, make of that what you will(maybe he is happy to try and get that with us), but that is what they are saying after the meeting with the Brother of Pep.
Fairy muff. As I said, it may well be true, my problem is with the media and the way they report things. They want to manipulate our reactions all the time and they'll say things without real substance. If it happens, then I'll decide what my response will be, I won't be conned into condemning someone for doing something before it's actually happened.
The persecution of Luis started way before the Evra business; in fact, it dates from the moment he slalomed through United's defence in the first game he played against them in 2010. His cards were marked thereafter. Look, as has been mentioned, at the ****ing ridiculous reaction after the Mansfield handball. Would ANYONE else have received such preposterous hysteria? And no, not for one millisecond do I believe Lawton, Holt, Samuel, Ladyman et al would have kept up this campaign of vilification on any other player from another club. Which is not to say Luis is some innocent saint at all - he has to go as he can't control himself. But even so, how, ffs, do you get a ban or 'biting' an opponent (that didn't even leave a mark, let alone break the skin) that is over three times longer than another player got for a headbutt, elbow and forearm smash in the same game, let alone ten games more than an England international got for the same offence? As such, luis can't stay out of trouble so is better off out for the best terms he can get, but mark my words - the press campaign will stop, even if he stays in England with arsenal or Chelsea, but a new target IN A LIVERPOOL SHIRT will get it instead. You will see; we'll be continuing this argument next year.
I completely agree that it is totally over the top and non stories such as the Mansfield thing are blown up to keep him in the news - but he brings 90% of it on himself, he is the panto villain at the moment and I really don't think him moving to Arsenal or Chelsea would suddenly mean he is left alone. He definitely gets worse punishments than others, but I don't think it is because of the club he plays for - I think it is just bandwagon modern day ****ty journalism.
“There have been no offers yet, but Liverpool know exactly what is going on and what I want,” Suarez told Uruguayan radio station Sport 890. “My agent is in charge, he knows what I want, I am resting and relaxed. I am due back in about ten days, on the 21st of July, [but] a phone call could change everything. “It is good to know that I am still valued by teams like Arsenal. Friends call me up to ask if I am moving to Chelsea, to which I laugh.”
