Do I think Saurez is a racist? No, but he was right to be punished for making comments deemed racist in Great Britain. What is acceptable in Uruguay is not always the same here. Saurez not a child, he's an adult therefore he should know better, he is old enough to educate himself on foreign cultures.

I dare anyone to go to a country like the United Arab Emirates and ignore their culture and laws.

He is a fantastic player, so I hope he learns a lesson from this and we don't see a repeat of this incident. I for one will miss him on the pitch!

What utter nonsense

Suarez is quoted and convicted as saying something in a spanish not used in Uruguay, so I would think he actually did not say that.

If I called Evra a black bastard I would put the emphasis on bastard with nothing on black other than descritpive which in Uruguayan is how it is used, descriptive not classification, and that is not racist in any sense

Due to what has been in the media, something like this could never go to a trial anyways as Suarez has already had a trial by Media.

Reactionary half cocked fools have taken up the media banner to boot. Evra heard Negro or similar and put the rest together in his head no doubt. I think Luis would have been charged before now or at least we'd have heard something of his racist tendencies by now. he is still not as bad as a drug cheat like ferdinand or a scum bag like Thatcher Rooney or Giggs even if it was true what Evra claaimed which of course it is not and anyone not connected to do gooder groups or rival fans can actually clearly see what this is, a witch hunt
 
well that is true and why the fa reasonable held off on terry. they will deal with it in due course.

I don't agree with calling other players names as they've nothing to do with us, neither does terry except for the fact the fa need to be consistent.

Evra head something alright I'm sure of that and have to say i'm happy with some form of ban but i feel the fa wrote the last few pages of the report after the fact and didn't do half the justification for the 8 matches as it did for the analysis and it reads like its written by separate people.

Oh and considering Liverpool feel so hard done by on the FA's stitch up I eagerly await the day they take the FA to a real court of law.

Surely what Dalglish means if he says everything didnt come out then surely they would take this higher or at least appeal?

If an English man walked up to another Englishman and said "Hello Black, how are you?" he'd probably get twatted.

Context and linguistic base are key in what is said, and importantly, by whom...

Of course, you are too simplistic to understand that - you clearly want De Gea, Hernandez etc. charged with the same crime and get a £40k fine and 8 match ban...
 
That's old news. Jim Boardman made light of it on twitter only the day after the racism row broke out. It's a amazing that national press is only just deciding to pick up on it

This once again, is being taken out of context - The word 'Negro' is not a racist word and this was accpeted by the FA and the committee - The way in which it is used can be classed as racist (Though for the life of me I can't understand why!) If he had called him a 'n!gger' then that would have been unacceptable...If you insist on commenting on our threads at least have the decency of getting fact straight first!

Love how in the comments people are claiming it's perfectly alright for him to use the word because he is black. So it's alright for them to use it but we can't because the colour of our skin, sounds like racism to me!

I'm completely mystified - you are saying that a completely neutral word (as all words are) should be removed from the lexicon as it might offend someone if used? That is not far off suggesting the burning of classical literature because it might reinforce racial stereotypes (Uncle Tom's Cabin, or The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, for example). I mean, come on, even Mein Kampf isn't a banned book...

The whole point of this is the manner in which he said it. If Evra said dont touch me South American to which Suarez replied why black? Would be racist.

In France I very much doubt you could call a black man Negro. Just like I doubt Suarez calls Glen Johnson, Negro.

The age of consent in Uruguay is something daft like 14. Would it be ok for Suarez to have sex with a 14 year old here because hes allowed to at home?
