Just checked and Mannone contracted to next summer apparently. Robinson has a problem with his chest/lung I think
There are a couple young american goal keepers that we could probably get as cheep backup if they could get a work permit. Johnson comes to mind he is one of the back up keepers for the national team and only 23.
Feel sure that the cost of our loan players becoming permanent will already have been negotiated and are fixed, subject to promotion. No promotion, no permanent. Then it'll be back to the loan market next season for another keeper.
Whilst Stockdale is a decent keeper, he's certainly not worth anything close to £4million. I'd also think twice before buying him as our first choice keeper next season if we do get promoted.
I like stockdale, can't think of him doing a lot wrong to be honest. Don't understand why our fans never seem to be happy no matter who we have in goal. Even when mannone was here he had his fair share of slaters.
If we go up we will get quoted silly money for some of our transfer targets, we need Papa Allam to play hard ball with agents and chairmen at the start of the summer transfer window - to show that unlike last time we went up we will not pay over inflated wages or more than a player is worth to us
It's because he's not scared, same as Guzan, they try and take everything. Stockdale dropped a couple because he was overstretching but rather that than a goalie who doesn't try to command and claim everything. The Championship is more physical for goalkeepers than the Prem so when they overreach it stands out, I think the one people associate with Stockdale is when Evans charged in with his tackle and saved the day, but Stockdale was there trying to take command. Better suited to the Premiership but if you had to pay £4million get Mannone. Maybe they can barter with Arsenal if he is still under contract or maybe get a years loan with a signing clause.
I cant see that at all. He was only linked with Fulham before cos Zeman didn't rate him and never played him despite his expensive arrival. Since Zeman was sacked he has started every game and regularly states how happy he is now. Plus I fully expect Ancelotti to be at Roma next season.
Whatever happened with Matthew Ryan? Wasn't he supposed to come and have a trial? Think he was linked with a move to Celtic or somewhere. Goalkeepers get the most flak because they're the last line of defense. Stockdale has been great this season, people have short memories. Remember Amos? Started well and got worse and worse. Jakupovic dropped a couple of clangers, but no more than other goalkeepers we've had this season; they were just concentrated into one or two games. He was great in a run of games up to Christmas when Amos buggered off, he just dropped a bollock in the Sheffield Wednesday game and Bruce washed his hands. If you watch him in the warm up, his reflexes are top notch. The only gripe I have about Stockdale is that he seems to kick towards the flanks too much; when we try to keep the ball, he should be looking for the short pass out to a WB, because hoofing it downfield usually results in the opposition gaining possession.
I think he's very confident coming for crosses, sometimes too confident. But it's not often he misses one is it? Generally he gets a strong punch on it. I think he missed one recently (might even have been Bristol) and I remember thinking something along the lines of "Huh, he usually gets a punch on it." Just realised I haven't even seen that goal. He just won Sunderland's PotY. Can't see him coming here!
I did see it reported this week that jol was renewing his interest him. Whether or not he gets him is.another matter
Just been thinking about this in a detached manner, and I think its probably down to the fact that if a goalie's doing a good job, you don't really pay them much attention, if they save a penalty you remember that, if they mess something up especially if the other side score from that, you REALLY remember that. I may have been a little unkind, thinking back on it, he has been pretty solid for us overall.
I really didnt mean that. I was more asking if he had form at spotting relatively unknown keepers from abroad who go on to be ace. I think we will, I just dont think we should.
West Ham are going to sign him for up to £5m, to replace Green... http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/...42047.Hammers_may_move_for_Stockdale/?ref=rss He's not worth £4m-£5m. Editted as I put up the wrong link.
You could have both Stockdale and Mannone for less than £4m. Old dated news going back to June 2012. West Ham could be interested in Mark Schwartzer if he fails to sign for Fulham. Alex McCarthy the Reading GK is also another attracting interest from some London clubs.
I edited it and put the old link back up again. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...ress-sport-news (Daily Express :: Sport Feed)
