When I move to live in Frome at end of December should
I make the one hour train ride to Parson Street to watch a City team managed by twerps like Cotterill or Holloway?
Or take the train in the opposite direction for some Saintly football in the upper echelons of the Premiership?
 
Sadly I don't think the people who run Bristol City will ever learn from their past mistakes because, by their definition only, they haven't made any, and therein lies the root cause of all of our problems.

Until such time as the board wake up and realises that if you want a real manager who will bring in real players and then coach them to play, you will have to pay some decent money and stop living by today's credo that cheap and nasty is O.K.

Wake up time Bristol City because just in case you haven't noticed the supporters are at the end of their tether when it comes to lousy decisions made by your lot. Take a look around at some of the teams that come from lower markets than us who have achieved great things and haven't forked out the same kind of ridiculous money as us in doing so. Doesn't that tell you something about how lousy you all are at giving the City of Bristol a decent team and stadium and you never know but that other team across the railway tracks might beat you to the punch.
 
This goes to prove my point that no one at Ashton Gate reads these forums to gauge fan opinion and general feeling. If they did, then they would clearly see that not a single person has voted for Steve Cotterill on our manager vote. So if they employ him I will be resigned to a stronger possibility of league 2 football next season, for which I won't be renewing my season ticket until their is a change of the board.

If any player or manager read otib there confidence would be knocked so much they'd be a suicide watch, I bloody hope no manager or player reads forums
 
Just done a quick wiki check and Cotterill has a higher win percentage than
Warnock , O'Driscoll , Appleton and Hollowhead.

He's been working with Harry Rednapp and Joe Jordan, maybe he might not be such a bad thing considering all of us know everything fans wanted SoD and McInnes who both turned out to be crap.
 
I think cotterill and Appleton are probably the worse two managers currently being linked to take over as both our complete and utter failures as managers who have had more jobs than hot dinners especially Appleton of late.

I'm hoping cotterill is just another where because he was favourite lots of non city supporters have blindly put their money on him.

I know the fans would like Warnock but I can't see him coming as the board want a yes man not someone who on a weekly basis is going to be wanting something or someone else to improve the team.

SOD and DM before were brought in to reduce the cost of running the club as both had worked with clubs on low budgets. U wouldn't put Warnock in that bracket. Maybe Hollohead as he showed st Blackpool he had an eye for a bargin and had a sell on Clause in his contract so made a few bob out of the Charlie Adam deal
 
We do have to remember who we are - a League 1 side with no money to spend and therefore will be able to get a certain level of players and managers

While I to are underwhelmed by the thought of Cotterill, maybe he's the one who could turn out to be the right one.

Certainly people who have "the fans approval" like Coppell, McInnes, SoD did not work.

Having worked alongside him during his time in charge at Nottingham Forest, Cotterill is also well known to City director of football Keith Burt.

His last job in football management at Nottingham Forest came to an end 17 months ago and he is eager to work as a number one again

The one thing I do know is whoever the new manager is, not all of us would be happy.

I want Di Canio but I know a lot fans don't so who's right who's wrong. But we all want someone who will get us out of the position we find ourselves in.

I think you will find it's highly likely thats its you who will be wrong.! Even Redprintt could tell you that..<whistle>
 
As long as its not holloway i will give who ever comes in a chance, id like warnock in but if its cotterill so be it.
 
Perhaps a fairer, more rounded view, from one of your own on OTIB...

'My opinion of Cotterill is based on what a mate who played at Cheltenham for him told me about him. Basically, he's meticulous, has a very up and at em attitude and is focused on individuals winning their one on one battles.

Can someone intelligent explain to me his failures? He's not Dean Saunders. He's not even an odious egomaniac like Colin, Hollowhead or Di Canio. He's a bloke from Cheltenham who has a decent career as a football manager.
When he took over Cheltenham they were a Southern League side and he left them in this division, 3 promotions later. He's managed at Championship level and kept a smaller club than us (Burnley) there over a number of seasons. He managed to keep Portsmouth in the league when the club was disintegrating around him. Working for the muppets we have in charge will seem like a doddle in comparison. If he can do a similar job for us as he did for Notts County I'll be pleased as will everyone on here.'
