City did not pass it back pass it back all the time. The "intent" was not too. The "intent" would have taken years to implement. There has to be a slavish drive away from direct hustle and bustle football, Its dead, it holds clubs back. Its naive to think you will have an XI doing all those things you desire in months v years.

My son is being trained by Bristol City. Any parent wants to see their child at a club with a clear direction. I thought BCFC had one.

Now City again could be changing path and that can have long term consequences.

I too am seriously concerned that the joined up football that is now apparently making progress in all but the First team, will be totally wasted if Cotterill, as I expect, uses hoofball as his basis for the first team.
So that would be a big chunk of the Five Pillars gone out of the window!

Steve Cotterill would not be my choice but then I am prepared to admit I was excited by the appointment of Coppell, McInnes and SOD. So perhaps having no positive expectation of success under SC will be a good thing. If appointed he will get my support as the manager of my club. I just feel punch drunk after the last few years and almost feel I would be happy with the club stabilising and not continuing to drift backwards

We have to accept the decision and it would be unfair on SC to do anything other than support him with an open mind, at least to start with.

Results under him simply can't be any worse than they've been during SOD's tenure, although I've a horrible feeling we'll all be welcoming yet another newcomer in a few short months to come through the revolving door and drink from the poisoned chalice that is Bristol City FC.

One thing Cotterill will demand is some fight.

It wont be pretty but he may be just what you need to survive.

Put it this way hes a better option than Dave Jones.

A level of performance equalling that against the league leaders and an improvement in results e.g one defeat in seven should be expected.

I also expect to see a clear direction being rigidly set out for the FC like the one the now departed Head Coach had to adhere to.

RR you're moaning about SC way of football when we've been watching it since January! SOD's "passing" ways completely deserted us, He's been the biggest flop at this club since Stern John

If it is Cotterill he must have fought off some strong opposition, and the board must really rate him.
Yesterday's Bristol & West Country Independent had Jon Lansdown, interviewed by Richard Latham,
    saying,

'At these times you always find out that Bristol City is a big club because of the
calibre of people interested in the job'

    and....

'....we are a big club capable of attracting big names.'

The "intent" should be to win games. You don't show that "intent" when you play 1 up front and supply him with long balls, which is what was happening towards the last 30 minutes of every game. Kids and parents alike, play the game to win, and have fun doing so.

You are completely backwards with the way you think football works. Not sure how old you are, but you really are living in the wrong age. As for the direct hustle and bustle being dead, explain to me why when our "intent" to play a certain way was failing, your idol allowed his players to finish a game with that style? Also explain to me how Stoke who had a manager that used that strategy more often than not, West Ham more often than not, do so well with it if it is "dead".

YOU DON'T GET YEARS IN FOOTBALL TO DO ANYTHING, BECAUSE THERE IS TOO MUCH AT STAKE WHEN YOU HIT ROCK BOTTOM TRYING TO IMPLEMENT SOMETHING WHICH IS CLEARLY NOT WORKING!

Let me throw some teams at you. Luton, Macclesfield, Hereford, Wrexham, Lincoln City, Barnet. A few teams that are struggling to get back to professional status.

There have been very good performances in the last month e.g Carlisle and Leyton Orient. Its inconceivable the team was not attempting to win those games.

City had time. The ground was buzzing post Orient. The vibe was not sack him its all doom. Peopole who went were upbeat.

Tony Pullis favours that type of football. He tried similar at Ashton Gate and it imploded spectacularly. Why he pursues that path? I don't know, I have little interest in football played in that crude and ugly manner. I consider it backward and damaging to British football as a nation. Yes most goals statistically are scored with less than four passes, but that does not make Brazil, the Dutch Germany, Spain .... Wrong.

Explain to me why when our "intent" to play a certain way was failing ... I have before, but Its hard to explain to somebody who calls the team a shambles, says the Head coach has lost the dressing room etc. You have made your mind up.

Mr 'driscoll is not my idol, but I do have clear ideals on how football should be played. Cooper or Gould? Cooper every time. Jordan or Beck? Jordan every time. That will indicate how old I am.

Football is evolving ...The Robbie Turners are gone. The tackle fromn behind gone. Midfied enforcers gone. Even the ball is creating new skills e.g Knuckleballs.

The reason City are going backwards is its failure to evolve and plan long term. Some will blame the TVG, but they have not spent smart anfd still have players that have poor technique. Time again there to see them off.

By the way Kids with their parents should play the game to LEARN, until a certain age and have fun doing so. Any team not doing that should be avoided if you want a childs football to develop properly.

There are fourteen former Football League clubs in this season's Conference. I am very aware that unless we arrest the slide now, we could be joining them in a couple of years.

These Lansdowns need to take a long long look in the mirror,50 million in debt, heading to league two, appointing a hoofball manager who has never set the football world alight.

Especially when there is some real quality out there at present, perhaps we cannot entice the better managers at present.

Time to move on take your debts with you,and put the club on the market

I know half a dozen parents who've wasted their time taking their boys all over the place to play for the City kids.
To a man they wished they'd never bothered as, according to them, City take a scatter gun approach to kids.
Clifton, I hope it works for you though.

'Of course i will get behind him' - I will be behind SC or anyone else until I see his FIRST team sheet.
If SC picks Gillett - then SC is useless, and we're down.
To the luvvies, it's not about 1 player alone it's 1 decision like that tells me he hasn't a clue.
Just like last August when SOD picked Kilkenny above Reid.
It got worse and worse then - 2mph possession game, Fielding, Wagstaffe, O'Connor, Gillett etc etc

Don't worry guys I'll mark his card.

Oh well thought he would get bigger and better offers-

    Next Wigan manager
Ian Holloway is the early favourite to replace Owen Coyle as Wigan manager.
    According to sky-
