They've attributed this statement to Pardew so that A) he becomes the fall guy and B) it still looks as though he's working well with Kinnear, which of course is a load of bollocks. And Pardew inevitably is happy to go along with being the author of this statement because he is, without question, a spineless bottomfeeder.

when was the last time you quit a job as a matter of principle ?

This is a quote from Bbc sport on 16 June 2013 as follows:

......

"I'm a very good judge of player and a good tactician," he added.

"Anything to do with football, I've been involved in. I intend to make Newcastle far better than they are now.

"I see a good player and know a good player. I have no other agenda. If I see players at the club right now and don't think they are good enough I intend to move them on."

Kinnear insisted "there will be no issues" between him and Pardew.

WTF, I always wondered what he meant by these statements?

Well fortunately I've never been in a similar position to that which Pardew has found himself in. And until I've been forced to mislead many thousands of people who put their support and money in a brand/product, and am continually made to look foolish publicly, I can't really answer that question.

I don't see how anyone can feel sorry for Pardew in this. He knew what he was getting into the moment he joined the club. He knew he was only getting the gig because he was Ashley's mate and thus would never step out of line. If he quit he'd get more respect. He'd get another job on the managerial merry-go-round soon enough. And, failing Kinnear, we'd just get some other clueless sap in.

Then perhaps a degree of hesitation might be appropriate before condemning the person who does find himself in that position ?

I see you conveniently ignored the second part of my response. None of us will ever find ourselves in the position of being a football manager at one of Britain's biggest football clubs will we? If I do find myself in a situation that involves me facing the choice of having to quit as a matter of principle, it's supremely unlikely to mirror the circumstances that Pardew currently finds himself in.

Pardew is on a lot of money in a job many people would love to have. He'll get no pity from me.

Pity is something you can give or not as you like certainly.

I have once or twice found myself in the position of having to decide whether to forgo a paycheque to distance myself from something I found very distasteful. You don't need to be in football to find yourself in that position. It isn't that easy to do.

Perhaps you would lose your income, with all that entails, without a second thought rather than be associated with something of which you disapproved. If so, you could, if you liked, call anyone who thinks twice about paying the bills, telling his wife he's unemployed, etc, a spineless bottom feeder. It's a good idea to be pretty sure, though, before you use those sorts of words..

Personally I'd have less respect for Pardew if he walked. He knows what would follow with Kinnear, and if he truly respects the club and its fans he'll stick it out for the greater good. Chris Hughton went up massively in my eyes with every passing day working under this regime. Like Pardew he went along with the boards bizarre incompetence because he cared about the club. He was sacked anyway and Pards will probably face the same fate regardless of results at some stage. However I'd think it a little cowardly if he just chucked his toys out of the pram and left because he is a "man of principle" etc. Sometimes in life you are met with adversity, or a ****ty situation which is maybe not ideal. However you know that if you take the selfish option and walk away, then you'll be leaving a worse situation to follow. I respect people like Pards or Hughton who just swallow their pride and press on.

Of course there is a limit for any man, but at the moment the situation is simple. He has no money to spend and they've hung him out to dry. Humiliating for sure, but he is a football man and will know the alternative is not really bearable for the fans.

The lecturing tone is getting boring now mate. If half the rumours about Pardew's personal life are true I find it difficult envisaging him as some kind of honourable family man so we can probably put that image to one side. I also look at the likes of Brian Laudrup and even a Paulo Di Canio, and know they wouldn't put up with the **** Pardew has. Pardew will have stories to sell, pundit gigs, radio interviews and before he knows it another job in football. I don't see how you can equate his professional circumstances with those of the rest of us. I'm sure he's done very well out of football for the past 25 years.

Never really post but enjoy these boards, however i have found myself in situation where i was being undermined and i quit my job. Have done this twice as i have a backbone and i wont take fall for others when they dont deserve it. Pardew had the chance to get his side across and if he was sacked he would have got paid off but to come out and claim as if there was no options is pure ****e. So dont go on about pity, pity is rarely due when it is within the persons ability or chance to change whats happening or being said.

Why are people saying pards didn't say it? Bbc sport say he did... Anyway, moot point. Whoever said it should be castrated with immediate effect.

your all blaming pardo but his hands are tied and if he don't have the backing then what is he suppose to do. you can bet he is as disappointed and angry with the club as anyone as he has to try and do a job with what he has got and he knows damn well the toon will struggle this season but as the manager he has to put out a positive message and if you were to open your eyes he is being used by the club as a scapegoat for their lack of effort...

Mate back in June it looked like Laudrup might walk because Jenkins wasn't going to back him. In the end, they backed him. Laudrup had the balls to stand up and risk putting his neck on the line because he knew you needed players or you'd probably struggle this season, given the Europa involvement and all.

Are you talking about local Swansea businessman and Swans fan Huw Jenkins? Minor difference there between Huw/Laudrup and Mike/Pardew.

Well Swansea's owner not being a fat **** is of course another matter. But the basic point remains that Laudrup made his feelings perfectly clear.

Whereas Pards is so scared of MA that he just reads whatever script he is handed, as though they're his own words.

Laudrup took an unfashionable club to Wembley and got them a cup in one of his first managerial jobs.
Pardew has worked, and in the eyes of the footballing world, failed at several jobs.
He took a team of strangers wanting to prove themselves to 5th then, a season later, saw it stumble and stagger to safety by the skin of its teeth. What ever the reasons, he presided over that. And his previous record reads the same.
If he walks now that's it, his career prospects are league 1 at best.
IF and it's a huge if, he gets a bit of luck and gives his head a shake he can finish this season respectably and then walk with the argument of he was hung out to dry and still managed a season of respectability so deserves a chance with a mid premier or championship contender.
Laudrup isn't a comparison to make.
