We are delighted to have brought Loic Remy to the club in this window and we believe he will form an exciting and effective partnership with Papiss Cisse.

Joe has worked hard on numerous targets, particularly an additional offensive player. However some of the options that were available within our financial means were not as good as the players we already had and there is no point bringing in new players unless they can improve us and take us forward.

We did the majority of our business in the January window, signing five excellent first team players.

With the strong squad we have we should all approach the season in a positive, optimistic frame of mind.

The fact that they felt the need to even publish this says everything.

That they expect fans to believe some of this bull**** just beggars belief. 'Joe has worked hard'? Our budget wouldn't stretch to a player better than Shola? We have a 'strong squad'? I just don't have the words anymore.

Being a useless manager is one thing but when he starts treating us like idiots it's time to do something about it.

90 minutes of Pardew out at the Hull game.

So Romelu Lukaku on loan, Arnautovic for £2m, Libor Kozak for £5m, simply paying the £600k Gomis' agents wanted....none of these options are better than having fcking Shola on the bench.

Not a great press release this.

This is the line for me:

"some of the options that were available within our financial means were not as good as the players we already had"

I mean, what WAS the budget? What was the £15m bid for PEA about? Or the £12m for Thauvin, the £8m for Gomis?

It's just more lies. Silence and lies, that's all you get.

None of it stacks up.

Utter tripe the lot of it.

So there's no one better than Shola?..... or Obertan?

Lies, Lies, Lies.

So then, free transfers - Artem Milevskyi or Ciprian Marica. Pretty sure they are both better than Shola and they are free.

For once they'd have been better off saying nothing.

As for Pardew, he's had little choice but to back the regime or walk. However he shouldn't have said beforehand that we NEED an offensive player as now he's had to back track and it makes him look incredibly week.

I honestly don't know why he sets himself up for the fall. Obviously the January window led him to believe things would be different. Silly boy. I'm not sure what his approach should be now, I'm at a loss. It makes no difference to the board whatsoever, they will just plough on ignoring any wishes. It does raise the question though, what is the point of the recruitment structure in place? What about Carr for instance? Does he not think "I'm being paid but I'm not sure what for?"

Whether his fault or not (it's clearly not his fault), we've haven't signed anyone and he's now publicly defended this. He now doesn't have the right to moan should say Remy & Ben Arfa pick up long term injuries and our form dips dramatically as he's saying we have good squad depth and that Shola is better than what we could have attracted.

He's been hung out to try and I feel for him, but this time, just this once he shouldn't have stood for it. He should have said he's unhappy that the squad hasn't been strengthened and then the ball is back in Ashley's court. If he wants to sack him then Pardew would get a big fat pay off, if he doesn't sack him then Pardew's position with the fans and players is strengthened. Almost win, win for Pardew as if he doesn't toe the party line he either get's sacked (with a huge pay off and reputation enhanced/in tact) and if he doesn't then his position looks strong and fans then know he's standing up for himself, the players and the supporters.

It's the weakest he's looked under his tenure with us and he clearly has zero say, in any matters, other than picking the 18 players for match day.

They've attributed this statement to Pardew so that A) he becomes the fall guy and B) it still looks as though he's working well with Kinnear, which of course is a load of bollocks. And Pardew inevitably is happy to go along with being the author of this statement because he is, without question, a spineless bottomfeeder.

It may well be in his contract that he will issue approved press releases. I am interested to hear what he says when he is a little bit off the leash.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is something along the lines of: "My views are a matter of record. The weight that the board gave to my views is a matter which people can speculate about if they want. At the end of the day, it's out of my hands."

Nothing he can get fired for but still publicly washing his hands of the mess.
