It surprises me you're clinging to something this nonsensical. It's garbage which is why I left it.

I don't know if you're on a WUM but you do yourself no favours tbh.

Nah no wum. Just surprised that when you look into things it's surprising what you find.

All fair and we'll blaming or criticising other countries but the facts are our system is pretty much messed up too

Religion and Dictatorship in politics is a car crash imo.. The past reflects that and doesn't lie..

Not sure Brunei guy is basing it on religion as such. He cites religious sources in some aspects but it's about context imo

I'm always reminded of benazir Bhutto when she claimed Pakistan was a Islamic country and she was all for it (words to that effect). Guy questioning her said but Islam says a woman can not be leader of a Nation. To which she basically said who said we follow Islam <laugh>

Even the Shia clerics are going against the teachings of Islam (these are not the difference of opinion type teachings, but clear cut ones). For example the scholarship to be the right hand of the president is a no no but they actively campaign on the leaders behalf etc.

What context is there to the case in brunei <laugh>.

Its even called sharia law and the guy at the top follows Islam and makes the laws. How is religion not involved here?

Surprised in the sense that you would even patter that source.

According to lovechina.org they are the biggest humanitarians and most free country in the world

The sources are various. From newspapers, to channel 4 news discussion etc.

And the figures are factual, so I don't get this love China response

And whose word do we take for that? How could anyone have possibly measured which State was the most influenced? You haven't backed it up at all and so it's not interesting at all.

Unlike my Rather Nice Images thread, which is very interesting <ok>

Sharia just means law in Arabic. There is the linguistic meaning and the religious meaning.

Guy claims to be implementing Sharia doesn't mean it's religious.

Brunei isn't religious Sharia, neither is Saudi etc. The king's etc do what they please

The only source you gave me was humanist uk.

With respect to religion and its effects, we are one of the most secular and liberal countries so i will have to disagree with your source mate.

I found it interesting, if you didn't good for you.

Fact is we are second to Iran in one aspect and second to China in another. So much for democracy and secularism

Yeah I did with a laughing smilie. But also said there are other sources.

The humanist had it in simple form so I quoted it. But it's exactly the same in other sources of

If you find one that says otherwise. Let me know and I will look into it

Not sure many people will agree with you here and im normally more critical of the uk than most

Fan, I happen to think the vast majority of Faiths are good. I am a person of Faith myself. But when people of ANY State feel they need to have any religion interfere with the running of the State then I question just how insecure and how much Faith such people really have?

After all, if your faith is protected by the almighty then why do you need to worry about having it influence your State?

And with that, I'm out.

(Going back to the Rather Nice Images Thread)

I do agree with this. Albeit I think the state has tried to "bastardise" Faith's to begin with. So the current British system was always about Henry the 8th and his divorce

Similarly I see the **** going on with muslim countries and it depresses me as a Muslim.

Take Saudi for example, because it's seem as the Muslim capital as it were. More scholars languish in prisons there than anywhere because they come out against the govt yet it's seen as a Sharia based country.

Even my own country of origin has guys like taqi usmani (now in banking sector in Dubai or Abu Dhabi). This guy is a puppet to the max. But seen as a religious influence. No he is influenced

Also mate if you are religious etc then you know it's not as simple as protected from the almighty
