Do you think the decisions *he* has made have been awful? The ones he specifically has made are moving Ankersen away, sacking Kraft and appointing Spors. Which of those did you want reversed? The only real thing he got wrong was trusting them for a bit too long with the reins.
Hard to say, as we don’t know who actually does what and there is little transparency. But he is the captain of the ship of the worst premier league side of all time. He has sold all of our valuable assets and replaced them with league one level dross. The academy is on its knees. The staff have all been replaced with incompetent people. oh well at least we have a nice bar. Those tables are lovely
This stuff literally has not happened at all. Especially the academy stuff On its knees, really? I was chatting to someone with a family member in the academy at the Brighton game and even he was saying about how much it's picked up with investment in the past couple of years. It was definitely stale before that, though
This is just red mist thinking. Yes this is the worst season I can remember but they got us promoted last season at the first asking. This season they signed both ramsdale and fernandes which literally nobody believed would happen. They hired a good DoF who bailed on them, they've hired another promising DoF. They've fired or moved the people who have managed us into this mess. Its wrong to suggest 'everything' is getting worse. And yes there are a lot more poor signings than good ones, there are poor managerial appointments and you will eventually be proven right with the constant negativity because that's how the world works, if you predict a biblical disaster every day you will be right eventually. This season is ****e and I've given up caring. nobody is happy with it, here, in the club and in the dressing room, its obvious. Best you can ask for is that people try and fix it which is what they seem to be doing. I am pleased to read other saying that the academy is in a good place, one of the ongoing sources of pride in the club.
Posters hang on to this "they're trying to fix it" Really? How? Shuffling some seats at board level makes little to no difference. The appointment of Spors? No one had ever heard of him until the work permit issue. What exactly is his job, and when will we see actual results from his "input?" Are we really just supposed to suck this up and hope things are better in August?
If moves at that level make little to no difference, then I presume Ankersen had no impact on the club, and losing Wilcox didn’t impact anything, right? For the I don’t know how many’th time, Spors is charged with heading up the recruitment side of things at the club - managers and players - reporting into Parsons, who remains the CEO, but isn’t involved in football decisions. The football decisions now rest with Spors, who has done exactly that previously at the clubs we’ve already mentioned. And done it well. He’s not going to be able to do anything much other than deep dive what is wrong with the playing side of the club, and plan what he wants to do until the summer, when we can change manager and start making signings etc. From that point we’ll be able to see what impact the guy is going to have. And until that point, sorry but yes, we are just going to have to suck it up and hope that Spors is up to the job once he’s able to properly get going. There’s no alternative really, unless you want to protest or whatever. If so, crack on.
If you change the person who is directly responsible for appointing managers and signing players, when our biggest problem is appointing managers and signing players, and the new person is an external candidate with no prior involvement - then yes, you are trying to fix things
I agree with your gist LTL but one snippet I did glean from your post was that the bloke above Spors, Parsons isn’t involved in football decisions & the bloke above him, Solak has no / little football club experience, so we are really relying on Spors to be our saviour. Does seem a bit weak, even naive? I know the previous lot were crap & needed to be moved out / on & I truly hope they have (?) but it still sounds a bit flimsy at this stage?
Why? Spors has an extensive background in football operations. Parsons runs the business side of things. It makes sense to me.
Yeah appreciate that & probably my initial wording wasn’t good with weak, naive & probably should have been “limited”, especially with no PL experience. However, he does tick boxes & I hope we’ve got a gem.
LTL, I suspect that you are trying to make things as understandable as possible for those of us (like me) whose sole knowledge of, and interaction with, the club consists of watching poor performances on a weekly basis, then reading about other people's ideas for making improvements. As such, what I'm about to ask/suggest probably belongs on the blindingly obvious pile, but will Spors really wait until the summer to act? I would have thought that he/his team will already be looking at new football-linked personnel at all levels, from (probable) managerial replacements, through scouts, to players, in England, Britain, Europe and the rest of the world, with a view to persuading them that working for/playing for Saints is the best thing for them, starting soon. In simple terms, he probably isn't making paper clip chains and drinking tea, until the 'new season' bell rings. At least, he shouldn't be, otherwise we probably are deep in the brown stuff.
All of this is you guessing at this point, as the club have not said a single word They don’t care enough about the fans to even comment or say anything. They are embarrassing the club and treating the fans with contempt. It amazes me how many on here are happy to be a complete laughing stock, it really does
What do you want them to say at this stage? As someone else pointed out I’d expect them to make some sort of statement once relegation is officially confirmed. They can’t publicly be saying and talking about next season when we still technically have something to play for in this one. Ultimately the successful season we had under SR was when they had a football guy in charge for the season. All we can do is see if now there is a football guy in charge we can be successful again next year.
Well no they're not. What are they supposed to say right now? Given Kraft has now resigned from SR I suspect Solak directed a lot of anger his way behind the scenes and rightly so. They're clearly working hard behind the scenes to make improvements. And while the stuff on pitch has been a complete fiasco this year, there are valid arguments that the club is in as good a position for long term growth as it has been in a long time. We just need this season to end.
