I just went with totesport.

Put £10 on us to get promoted at 10/1, then got a £10 free bet, so that went on us to win the championship at 28/1.

Quite happy with those odds.

Can't believe we're still as long as we are. Charlton, Ipswich, Wednesday and Brighton all at shorter odds.

I can believe that the Allams didn't trust Barms with big money (not that I agree with it), however he always seemed fairly knowledgeable e.g. he said he'd known about Josh king for a while and seen him play before. Seen as he was a couple of years older than his lad then it wasn't just because they played in the same team or something. So for a guy with no managerial experience he clearly studied the game as well as playing it.

So I suppose the conclusion is that Barmby was picked as a cheap option after Joyce rejected the job as the Allams knew it would please the fans, whilst they never had faith in him to spend their money. However seen as we had a decent chance at promotion at that point wouldn't it have been wiser to use Watkiss as a caretaker manager and then to have tried to get Bruce or someone back then, who could of (in their opinion) been trusted with transfer funds to spend in January.

Are you allowed to tell us any of Barmby's targets out of interest OLM? And who were the Allams other than Sharp and Roberts (rumoured)?

Don't get too worried.

Not going to happen on a weekend - so Friday to Monday is only like one extra day. I heard he is expected to be signed up by Monday/Tuesday.

I don't think they're any secret, all the names have been posted before.

We were unlucky that loan deals for Fraizer Campbell and Mark Davies fell through because they both made it into their respective first teams, those were not the fault of Nick or the Allam's.

And the players Nick wanted on permanents in Jan were Ben Marshall and Adam Hammill.

Barmby has never been a cheap option ever.

It's time some of you guys started looking forward, Barmby's gone, we move on. I have no doubt that OLM has some sort of a link with Barmby's as he always rushes to his defence. But he's gone, get over it your starting to bore us now.

I think the Allams were right to not pay out for two wide men on permanents when it was clear we needed two forwards and a change from 4-2-3-1. That appears to me to say that Barmby clearly couldnt see the glaring error in his team. A good front man.

But the good front man was wanted on loan this is only on about permanents

I Knew it was FC. Can we get him now please ? With the signings weve already made (or nearly) i think he would help us to the title ! <ok>

Don't agree. Any striker wouldv'e suffered from the poor service of our wide men last seaon !

Always thought wingers were the problem last season. Brady and Stewart were wildly inconsistent, and King only came good for the last 3/4 games. Still wish we had Barmby in the long-run, but short-term I think Bruce will bring us quicker success.

Same here, I think 2 wide men would have been ideal, Stewart and Brady didn't offer Fryatt the service OR support he needed. When the balls on one side the opposite winger needs to come inside as a 2nd striker, neither ever did this leaving Fryatt to find his way past 4 men of the defence and whoever was covering from midfield.

Chicken and egg mate. As a wide player you look up hoping to see a man, we had no presence in the box to aim for. Rosy is an excellent crosser of the ball yet he couldnt pick out a pygmy.

Read what Bruce said. We didnt score enough last season and you have to play 2 up top its about scoring goals to win games. If we had beckham in his prime do you really think Matty Fryatt would be banging headers in left right and centre? No.

The proof is in the fact SB has just signed a 6ft 3 CF and CB. FACT END OF.

I'd say the one bit of Rosie's game that lets him down is his crossing. All opinions I know, but he reguarly gets into good positions and then wastes the cross by not beating the first man.
