Phillips undoubtedly still cares and that will do for me.

Phillips does not doubt Wilder’s managerial credentials but insists that Celtic will go for a more high-profile appointment instead.

And who is this high profile manager Kevin?

“If I put myself in a Celtic supporter’s shoes, who would I rather have, a Chris Wilder or an Eddie Howe?

“I see Celtic as a more high-profile club that would opt for someone like Howe because of the name."

So, one is a man who took a small club to the PL, struggled and was sacked and ...

... the other is exactly the same <doh>

    I raise you...

    https://www.footballinsider247.com/...tting-sunderland-mackems-do-not-want-to-hear/

“As much as the Mackems do not want to hear it, a few Championship clubs will be sniffing around.

“It is just natural for a striker that has scored as many goals as he has. There will always be interest in a striker that has scored that amount of goals. I can speak from experience because that first season, in which I scored 35 goals, there was interest in myself.

“I would be amazed if Charlie even thought about leaving Sunderland if they got into the Championship.

“The supporters should be back in the Stadium of Light and at no other club will you be playing in front of 35,000 fans. I certainly would not be looking to move on.

He's going to end up with a bad name if he's not careful, he's commenting on any club he chooses ...

... but he's either stating the obvious or taking a stab in the dark.

It's a shame, he's eroding his good name imo.

To be fair, Sheffield United is a much bigger club historically with far more pressure and higher expectations from the fans than Bournemouth, who'd spent most of their history in the bottom 2 divisions. To me Wilder is better suited to managing a club like Celtic than Howe, who only ever did it at Bournemouth and did have a lot of money to spend there. Howe could easily be a one trick pony only suited to Bournemouth.

What is going on here? Is Kev just fighting a battle to stay relevant? 5 years ago he was 1st team coach at Leicester and very well thought of. He was touted for the manager's job here and generally thought to be a real candidate for a manager's job somewhere. Now, 2 years out of work he's giving daily "Captain Obvious" quotes to some nothing website.....

You have to be hard nosed to succeed in Glasgow, I don't see Howe competing in Europe tbh.

He's also 'too English' if you get what I mean by that.

Not sure the Peterborough chairman should be discussing our players contracts tbh, seems like an attempt to disrupt our players imo. As we're about to play them I'd say it's out of order.

Speaking on Hard Truth: Inside the Football Industry, Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony said the contract situation on Wearside was “ideal” for new owner Kyril-Louis Dreyfus.

Sunderland may “freshen their squad” this summer and allow a number of players to leave at the expiration of their contract.

You said it was out of order, which it isn’t really is it. These things happen every day in football.

I thought you'd have learned, by now, that inventing facts only makes them true in your head ...

... chairmen discussing another club's player contracts is rare.

And I don't believe our chairman would do it if he's here 20 years.

What’s the difference between him doing it to the manager? Everyone knows how vocal he is, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he’s comment on it. It’s clever tactics and no one would turn a blind eye if one of ours had said it.

That's your opinion to which you're entitled.

Rival chairmen shouldn't be discussing our player's contracts at any time in my opinion.

You think it happens every day, I've rarely seen it.

So there you go, we disagree.

Sorry marra, but he's out of order, and I'm sure that he pulled some other stunt last season before we played them

Yeah he did did something similar, it was about Maddison if I remember rightly. I don't mind him, to be fair and at times he talks a lot of sense, but he should wind his neck in commenting on other clubs because he can very quickly upset other fans and turn them against him and his club.
