Brewdoggate may have quite a bit of truth in it. Especially Shota’s animated performances on the touchline being for show. When a coach is ranting and raving like that during a match, it’s often a sign of a lack of communication and understanding between coach and players. Not always the case, but if the players all knew their roles from training, a coach wouldn’t need to chew them out during games as much.
Can you remind me what was said during the brewdog incident & which playing was spilling the beans. Cheers
Supposedly, Elder got a little drunk and told a fan in a Brewdog bar that none of the players really rate Shota and think his antics on the touchline are for the cameras and aren’t useful instructions, Elder thinks Acun will ruin City, Honeyman’s option was activated but Kesler told him via WhatsApp that they weren’t offering him a new deal, Eaves and Smallwood were being let go, Moncur was the best player in training and some other stuff I can’t remember.
He also said blue stratos is better than brut and he puts Mayo on his chips. So make of all that what you will.
Why did everyone hate Elder for this? Seemed like he got a lot of stick and the only point I really have issue with is Acun ruining city (although if all your mates are being sold and released and being replaced with a shotgun approach of Turkish based players with a manager with no experience who's the owners mate I can see why he wasn't massively keen)
This. Giving Shota, who seems to be a really nice guy, another 2 weeks until the Luton game is just prolonging the agony, he appeared in the last interview to be shot, lost and mildly depressed. He’s just on a hiding to nothing - he alluded to losing a good number of players to international footy, who will be back just before the Luton match. He’s been unable to get his ideas and thoughts across to them in several months now, he ain’t going to do it overnight before the Luton game. I cannot see anything other than Luton, who are fast, fluid, having a field day. It would be the kinder thing to let him go. I think it also says a lot about Peter De Dutch & Andy Dawson that they’d rather let Shota struggle on than put in temp charge. I hope I’m wrong of course, just can’t see him turning this nightmare around, but good luck to the guy whatever.
Yes just like the team management is a team sport there must be some input from the assistant manager and first team coach otherwise what’s the point of having them. If Shota has not got it you would hope the PVD has some nous to help right the ship. However I suspect none of us on here have a clue what he does or whether he is very effective at it.
Maybe they're, in their own way of thinking, not wanting to be tarred with the same brush as Shota, and are letting him sink alone. Tricky and risky as the Owner or a new manager usually clears out the old assistants.
