"I can only think he's (Acun) decided to give him a chance to turn things around at the 11th hour because he wants him to succeed, because he thinks that the next two games at home could be the spark. Time will tell if that faith has been misplaced or not, and as I said earlier, the easy option was to sack him and get somebody else. Sometimes the tougher decision is to stick with the man you hired only nine months ago.
The problem is, given everybody expected him to leave - and he basically admitted it himself to the press afterwards - how does he come back? How does he have authority with the players, given they too expected him to go.
That is the acid test of these next few days ahead of Luton. If we were to lose against the Hatters then I wouldn't say he goes, it depends on the manner of the performance and the same with Wigan and beyond. There has to be signs of improvement from the players and the performance to avoid a change being made."
