Sheff Utd rightfully start as fave, I don't think there's a lot between the 2 starting lines - I'd arguably have 6 sunderland players starting in a combined 11 They do have better depth in the forward areas tho
I think we can win the game if we go at them and don’t just sit in. I don’t want the likes of Hamer and O’Hare having plenty of time on the ball
Sheff Utd had a chance to create a 5 point gap when they played at the SOL in January - Lost At the end of the same month they had the chance to go top above Leeds by playing Hull at home - Lost 0-3 At the end of February they had the chance to go top by beating Leeds at home - Lost 1-3 At the end of March they were 5 points clear of third placed Burnley At the start of April they lost 3 consecutive games to Oxford, Millwall and Plymouth At the end of April they lost to Burnley and ended the day 8 points behind Burnley blowing any chance of making the top two It seems they just can't take the pressure when the chips are down as Wilder showed at Plymouth. Sheff Utd might be favourites with the bookies ... ... so were Man City at Wembley today. Thankfully football isn't about bookies odds, stats and goals scored since August ...
All the feels are the same for the L1 final. we just need to ignore the outside noise and the SU fans. it’s 90mins. To quote Ellie Goulding, anything can happen.
What can happen is that Sunderland field a good team, play well and score more goals than the other team ... ... nothing that surprising to be honest.
Good luck fellas.... just a stat for you... Sheffield United have played in 4 play off finals and lost all of them, not scoring one goal. Make sure it continues...
sadly between the 2 clubs we have been in 17 playoff campaigns with 1 final win between us. 1/8 for us and 0/9 for them.
They are the favourites. They have easily the more expensive squad. They have more experience. They were recently in the Premier League. They have a manager who has done this before. They finished above us in the league. They have a song about a chip sandwich. No contest. So what? They also need to go up. We don't.
I don’t mind if the bookies and the media have them down as favourites. It just sounds defeatist to me when our own fans say it but we all have our different perspectives. I know how good our team can be so I’m always optimistic. The big point difference to me is not a true reflection of the season as we basically rested for the last 5 games. Anyway I suppose , good in one way if they think they are better than us as they may be complacent.
The best Sunderland can be has been affected by injuries to a series of injuries to very good players ... ... we could have our best team, on the pitch at Wembley, something we've rarely seen.
