I hope this is related to MSD. I can think of one other extremely viable reason why he would leave and it's the polar opposite, so lets hope for any kind of positive news in the next week.

I am never one to speculate, but there are a number of things happening at the club in the past few days that we will be able to piece together in the coming months, whichever way the takeover/investment turns out, and it will be obvious why they happened. I hope it's for the better because the alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

All of the takeover v investment speculation puts me in mind of when Tesco wanted to enter the Thai market by buying Lotus (at that time, probably, Thailand's largest supermarket chain) but were prevented from owning more than 49% of the joint company by Thai Law.

My understanding of what happened next is what I find interesting.

    • Tesco agreed and formed a joint company with Lotus whereby they only owned 49%.
    • Tesco then formed an offshore company to purchase 100% of Lotus whilst only owning 49% of the new Tesco Lotus company.
    • That meant they weren't breaking any Thai Law as Lotus was now only a 'shell' company as all of its assets [stores, brand etc] had been placed (at Tesco's insistence as a condition for its 'investment') into the new joint company.
There are always different ways to skin a cat!

Could something similar be happening here?

That he's unhappy with how Donald has handled the last few weeks and his own role is being compromised by the lack of ambition. He's also a lads fan, which makes me worried if he's genuinely walked of his own accord (which I agree he possibly didn't)

Let's assume its MSD because that path is a dark one.

Maybe these departures were the "staffing issues"

There's only one that matters mate. TD leaving could have happened in minutes if it was a problem.

I expect this clears the role of MD for a certain Mr Steward James Donald to jump into the hot seat once FPP investment arrives.

Any chance of it happening or will it drag on and on and on?

Likewise......nearly spat my tea out when I found out:emoticon-0104-surpr
I’ve also learnt never to start a reply to a thread, forget about it and then reply to another thread.....hence the remarks about Kevin Philips being completely out of context.

I don't understand why this would be the case. Davison's role was far more related to commercial than Donald's as the director of the football side. If he's not losing his majority stake, he can give himself any title he likes, but getting rid of a MLF who also happens to be way overqualified for the role, and then replacing him with Donald, a guy who hasn't done that job, would seem bad business sense for pretty much everyone.

Hope MSD have someone very very good lined up for it.

    I hope you're right mate.

Someone posted over the road that it was family reasons why he'd left, but that wouldn't tie in with the commercial bloke leaving at the same time.
(Again that's another bit of speculation over there).

Awful to see someone with a lot of KUDOS within the industry who supports us leaving SAFC, just hope there's a big positive for us as the rationale behind it.

I'd be staggered if they didnt.
I'd say will end up a bit like quinn when short took complete control
He eased quinn into an ambassadorial type role which I reckon both bored and irked him but unlike donald he was much more altruistic about things.
If it all comes to fruition I cant see any other but a real hard ass in the ceo/md role. Not meeting targets, kpi's etc etc will be the order of the day and I doubt donald is going to fit into such a regime.
    If it all happens
